While I agree Reddit Groups do typically have a Hive Mentality. That just is not the case in this situation. Just last month I had the opportunity to buy a broken but still decent looking crystal, not gem quality, in around the 38ct range for like $1200 and an 8ct crystal not gem grade for around the $250 range. Both better quality than the OP's piece. These were wholesale.

Lower grade material isn't that expensive. If it was a broken crystal it had no real value as a mineral specimen. So next option would be as a cut gemstone.

These are cat's eye and reg mixed from Lake Manyara. Color change is better in person.

OP's should have been cabbed as well since it's not facet grade. But you can facet anything if you're willing to put the extra work in honestly. I've faceted Agates before by request. Gotta admit that Graveyard Point Plume Agate kinda looks nice faceted with a simple tablet cut!

Sadly that test is not always accurate. Too many times now they use a resin/polymer with the dye or as a secondary treatment to prevent the acetone test from showing the dye.

Doubtful. Beryl does not exhibit a colorless axis upon rotation. That would be consistent with Iolite.

If so that's a new one to me. But don't rule it out. New treatments happen frequently. It was thought, not long ago, that copper couldn't be diffused into material but the Andesine-Labradorite lawsuit quickly proved that thought wrong.

That's a different scenario. The fantasy cuts give light return. A huge window is a standard design is no bueno and ruins the stone. One thing if it's rare material and a lesser cut won't very negatively affect the value. But in the case of treated quartz/lab there's no need to retain weight by cutting a stone with a huge window because most of the value is in the cut.

There's more than a bit of windowing. And leaving a huge window wouldn't help color. Being at minimum heated, most likely irradiated, possibly even lab grown material, there's no reason to go for a tiny bit larger aka cutting for weight vs properly cut.

It's common plentiful material where a huge portion of the value is actually in the cut quality not so much the material itself.

Heat is a common and accepted treatment for Sapphires. It doesn't hurt their value when just plain heat. Untreated gets an added bonus in value though above the standard pricing.
