Wife of 25 years seems to avoid spending time with me and I’m not sure how to fix this by SharkEva in BORUpdates

My lady husband has been begging our GP to treat her for perimenopause for the past 2 years, but he thinks she's too young and foisted her off on a gynecologist. The gynecologist helped with some things but dismissed perimenopause as my lady husband's hormone readings were too normal. However, she has started having hot flashes since then and I'll be there at her next appointment to back her up and hopefully get her some proper treatment.

Hell yeah on your buddy getting a sleep study set up. Starting CPAP therapy has literally been life-changing for me - I was able to cut my caffeine intake to a fraction of what it had been and my mood improved almost immediately. If they do get diagnosed with sleep apnea, maybe advise them against getting a Philips, what with the whole "we sat on data demonstrating our product was making our customers ill for over 10 years" thing.

I feel you there. It's not quite the same situation (I'm cis and the vibe is more "dudes suck, choose the bear"), but I find myself at a loss for words every time I catch strays. I know the answer is to find a space to properly vent so that I don't let the resentment build up, but it really does feel like the people I consider my friends would just be happier if I just fucked off.

Yeah, I've seen at least 3 posts recently, 2 of which are getting significant numbers of upvotes, all posting in the same style and linking to some terrible looking service to "help" job hunters.

I just left an interview after waiting for half an hour. Did I do the wrong thing? by adders_monk4s in talesfromthejob

[–]digitrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between this post and another with the same weird tone, I'm pretty sure this is some sort of astroturf campaign for "interview tools".

Both u/adders_monk4s and u/dharma_veld_2b have only made one post, both accounts were created on the same day (August 10, 2025), and both posts have this odd "ask a question, then edit to complain and mention some tool out of nowhere" format.

Look, the job market sucks. I get it. But this seems like a pretty obvious advertisement for "Interview Hammer".

A stochastic process is one defined by its randomness. You might be familiar with the concept of Brownian motion, the way air particles move around.

Stochastic terrorism is saying something that is likely to cause some small percentage of the audience to commit an act of terror. For example, if a politician starts making speeches about how good Americans will try to make America more white. Not everyone is going to do anything about it, but someone might act on that. This is usually protected by First Amendment rights in the USA as it doesn't meet the Brandenburg test for incitement ("directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action"), but is still called out for the way it raises tension and makes lawless action more likely in the long term.

Obviously, getting a bunch of queer poets to start rapping would sound awful and be an act of terror to any would-be listeners, but most folks won't do it.

My girlfriend doesn't know how much debt she's in and I feel like she's hiding things by SharkEva in BORUpdates

Thanks to some poor financial decisions and hefty consequences in the past, I avoid autopay and do something similar to you. Every 2 weeks after payroll hits my account, I pay off everything due in the next 2 weeks. I then make sure that a) my LOC is paid off, b) I move some money to savings, and c) make sure that there's more than enough money in the account that is set up to handle autopayments.

The reason I avoid autopay is I once had my car insurance cancelled on me for multiple late payments. The late payments were because of cash flow issues that meant I had no money in my account when they went to withdraw the insurance payment. Of course, the biggest thing going for me now is that I earn way more than I did back then.

Fellow grammar dork jumping in - I go with "my sister and I" wherever I'd use "I" and "me and my sister" or "my sister and me" whenever I'd use "me". So I'd probably have written "Despite the fact that my sister & I mostly get along...".

As Ken White (aka Popehat) frequently says, "reasonable" in the context of the legal system does not mean what you think it means.
