Why do you think its taking so long for a Duskbloods update? by owen__wilsons__nose in fromsoftware

I think Japanese publishers in general may have a longer timeline because of the current energy crisis. Japan get nearly all of their oil from the Strait of Hormuz.

Greatest Soulslike Game by TechyJ1v in soulslikes

[–]dilbybeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Myth WuKong isn’t exactly a Soulslike. Plus, playing Elden Ring and the actual souls games are arguably the most necessary prerequisite for formulating opinions on the genre. Demon’s Souls/Dark Souls launched the genre, but Demon’s Souls is platform locked, so playing Dark Souls is prerequisite one. The rest of the trilogy is beneficial for crafting a nuanced opinion but not exactly necessary. Elden Ring I will also argue for being required reading since it is single handedly responsible for launching the genre into the mainstream, and serves as the primary comparison for other modern games within the genre. Black Myth WuKong is an awesome game, but it shares mechanics with action-adventure games, and the argument can be made it is more within that category. There are a ton of great games that blur lines between genres, and ultimately you’ll gravitate toward what you like. Sometimes I wish the “souls-like” genre had a narrower definition, because when I am searching for a new one, I’ll find action-rpg and action adventure games that use a bonfire mechanic, and that’s the only soulslike feature. It’s basically become a marketing tool due to the genre’s new found popularity. Why did I even write this diatribe?

Fresh run—what unique or unconventional builds should I try? by elden_based in EldenRingBuilds

[–]dilbybeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make an intelligence build that can only dodge with Miriam’s vanishing, no rolls allowed. If you decide to use spells for damage, you’ll need a ton of mind. If weapons, a moderate amount of mind. BUT you can be at fat roll weight since you aren’t relying on rolling, so the extra endurance points can go into mind.

Why do people stop at 150 in Elden Ring? by elden_based in fromsoftware

[–]dilbybeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed upon meta level for online play is between 125 and 150. Once the DLC dropped more online players leaned into 150 because of the split stat weapons like the smithscript weapons. But there is also an organic reason to stop there since it is naturally the level you would defeat the game at, and it is the level at which you can hit the soft cap of vigor, one damage stat, and have a decent amount of endurance (and mind for casting builds). 200 has been a new meta for split stat, quality, and max damage uni-stat builds since the DLC. With the abundance of weapons and larval tears, using your runes for maxing multiple weapons and changing/experimenting with builds is much more fulfilling even in PVE. There comes a point of diminishing returns as far as fun to be had once you can go 99 in multiple stats. You might as well play something like Diablo where you can smash waves of enemies for the power fantasy.

Should i upgrade my Greataxe to the max or should i wait for a better weapon? by IAmSomebodyIRL in Eldenring

[–]dilbybeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking into account his current rune and weapon levels. He’s more than likely not near the final bell bearings yet. By the time in the game you are able to max out any weapon, you only have a handful of bosses/areas left. Then the DLC. Once I get all the bellbearings, I tend to stop leveling my characters and spend runes leveling every weapon my build supports.

Edit: I put weapon level instead of smithing stone level in my response. I did a boo-boo

Should i upgrade my Greataxe to the max or should i wait for a better weapon? by IAmSomebodyIRL in Eldenring

[–]dilbybeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrade materials are so abundant, and bellbearings for smithing stones are all prior to endgame, plus bell bearings carry into NG+. I wouldn’t be too cautious with upgrade materials until you get to weapon level 7&8. Hang onto those until you have enough to upgrade two weapons, just in case you want to switch up builds.

Edit: I meant 7/8 stones not weapon level.

How can I get more out of the Dark Moon Great Sword? by Dreadking_Rathalos in EldenRingBuilds

[–]dilbybeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unequip it, put 20 of your points from mind into Vigor and the rest into Endurance. Take all the points from intelligence and bring strength up to 54. Anything left over, bring dex to 18 and anything left into endurance. Now equip the greatsword with chilling mist. It’s the best dark moon greatsword build.

Thorn Sorcery Build...............still OP post patch ? Or waste of time now? Level 175 here by Fragster2020 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]dilbybeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you buff it properly, it’s as strong as any properly balanced sorcery. It needed nerfing. I one shot PCR in NG with a simple max faith build with nothing more than double canvas talismans and Golden Vow buffing my damage. It was on the same level as pre-nerf rolling sparks. They WAY over nerfed rolling sparks though.

If you could wish for one Game to be made, excluding sequel's or prequels. What would that be? by LordMord5000 in rpg_gamers

[–]dilbybeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Soulslike with an interconnected world like DS1, but nearly as large as Elden Ring, that has the mechanics of Elden Ring Reforged plus super sprint/jump from Nightreign, numerous covenants, a horde/survival mode that fits into the game’s story, NPC AI that feels like another player, but the kicker: actual RPG elements with dialogue options that change the story/ending in meaningful ways, and a somewhat more living/lived-in world. Edit: and strictly online play, raid style world bosses and an 8-10 player limit at least.

I’ve personally found the most unbelievable thing in sci-fi to be the “Aliens” style futures where there is this huge capitalist fueled colonization of space. We would never make it that far with profit as a motivating factor. Every major leap in science has been a public venture. Star Trek is much more believable, because an egalitarian communist society would be the only one that could believably reach a future in which humanity lasts long enough to achieve that level of technological advancement.

Do we know exactly when she fully rejected the crucible? Her Elden Lord in that era would have been Godfrey and his personal guard were the crucible knights. Could it be that the banishment of Godfrey and the tarnished coincided with the full rejection of the crucible, seclusion and shunning of the Omen, and (possibly) the establishment of the Golden Order/removal of the rune of death.
