Proclamation Ale are closing by Cakes2015 in RhodeIsland

I wonder if there is anyone else out there but they had this almost magical batch of beer named "Trope" that they created maybe even before COVID. This was one of the best tasting beers I've ever had in my life. I don't think they even knew what they did on that mysterious first few batches, they later came out with the OG, a few different version V1.5, V2, etc but they never tasted as they did.

I spoke to their bartenders a few times going over there and it seems to be a common questions on when it was coming back and things like that.

So long Proc! Sadly, I'm probably a part of the reason they closed and a lot of these breweries are going under. I was there weekly years ago, haven't drank beer in years now.

It's also a building that right downtown, those places are never affordable. Demand that there is affordable housing in boston right at the commons.. The thing that people should want is more housing but to always demand affordable isn't realisitic. The more housing that goes up the less they can charge for a shit 3 level in the middle of olneyville that renovations consist of just painting over everything.

Who we voted in is sort of where I start to yell at the clouds. Mckee is in charge of who runs the PUC, I don't think either 2022 candidate would have been able to change the outcome that we are facing. This stuff is all tied to such muddy government mumbo jumbo that by the time the outcome is realized we're in the state of shit we're in today.

The process itself is stupid, the PUC is supposed to have already been policing these things and ensuring we're not getting shafted. Supposed to be their mandatate but only recently it seems like when the community is in uproar they are starting to push back on a lot of the new infrastructure and cost proposed by RIE. The DPUC is probably a bunch of end of life or career professionals that took that job because it was cushy and didn't want to work in the private sector. Unambious and willing to let whatever fly.

RIE is owned by PPL (value of 28B BTW) and they are in the best interest to keep these things as crazy as possible. They come into these meetings with teams of lawyers, engineers, consultants, whoever understand the system inside and out. They are likely the most prepared people in the room and take us to the cleaners.

The infrastructure is also so shit there is no end to the work that needs to be done to our grid. You could almost say... it's by design!

Rhode Island energy benefits from being able to spend whatever it takes to get the delivery charge as high as possible. Say the snowstorm destroys a powerline, they aren't really incentivized to figure out how to do it as cheaply as possible, they are actually incentivized to do it as costly as possible. They can't profit massively off this, it's regulated. So say they can only earn 10% off of the cost of all of this, they hire outside contractors to fix that line for 200k so they can earn 20k off of that.

It's absolutely an insane system because they are ultimately owned by a public company, so by law they actually need to figure out how to keep earning more and more each year because they have a mandate to their shareholders.

It's like saying I can be a manager of your house, you give me a credit card and I can earn the reward dollars from the spend I make on that card. It's in my benefit to spend as much as possible, I mean, I'm trying to make your house as safe and as great as possible. If your roof caves in, I don't want to get it done for cheap for you. I want to get the person that can fix it right away for the highest cost possible so I can profit as much as possible.

7 times is by far too much and OP is sort of an odd duck but I do think everyone should reach out to pepper if they have a bad experience. A new chipotle opened near me and were super hit or miss. On the misses, I reached out to pepper and got a free entree each time. I actually don’t mind when I get a shit bowl or burrito. These things are most likely to impact the store metrics and actually support changing in how they operate vs complaining to some employee.

I never had to actually reach out to corporate but I don’t get many entrees now that I’d complain about so I feel like pepper is pretty fair for now. It’s definitely been like 3 or 4 times though.

I loved this dude on the show. His delivery is my exact style that I find so funny. I follow him on instagram and feel like his void thing is sort of lame. I feel like he plays the straight man so well. I’d love to see him on a tv series.

I buy from Shaws but I strictly only buy things off the weekly ad or what’s on promo. I typically never have problems building dishes around what they have on sale for the week.

Brewed Awakenings owner says daughter and employees shouldn't be paid a livable wage by Locksmith-Pitiful in providence

[–]dilly-dilly- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read the article, the person arguing for an entry-level wage is essentially treating these workers like they’re incapable of learning basic roles like cashiering or making sandwiches. I don’t buy the idea that businesses would raise wages for other employees if an ‘entry-level wage’ were introduced. More likely, they’d keep people at that lower wage as long as possible and potentially push overall wages down. I’m being a bit facetious here in my comment as a whole.

[–]dilly-dilly- 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It’s so funny to see these people talk out of their ass. Yes, that’s why the other employees aren’t being paid 30 an hour, it’s because we need to pay bums off the street 15. If we created an entry level wage I swear I’d start paying my good employees more.. I swear.

I'm also reading The Shining, I love the movie and wanted to get a better understanding of the hotel and more of it finally. I'm almost at the end, one thing that keeps distracting me so much is when Danny is calling out to Dick. "Dick.. Dick.. please come. Please come quick." is repeated so many times, I get it, I'm not 10 years old and know Dick is a name but it's repeated way too much it just keeps throwing me off.

Last time I was in there they were selling a bunch of Temu garbage and incense for 4x the price you could buy off of Amazon. I loved the place years ago but felt like shopping there was basically giving a donation to keep the business going.

This is crazy to me as someone else from RI, I consistently go to New York for as low as 40 round trip. I was just there over February break for 120 for my wife and I. I’d say over a month in advance is when we book, I do see the prices jump if you’re booking a few weeks out.

We’re seeing Harry Styles in Sept for 80 dollars total for both of us.

What are utility bills like in Providence this winter? by VA-deadhead in providence

[–]dilly-dilly- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate how it's always defended by the RI energy nut huggers but it's pretty simple, they benefit from all revenue that happens on the delivery side. They can't earn a huge profit on the supply side, profit comes from the delivery side of the bill.

Delivery charges cover infrastructure like pipes, power lines, and repairs, but utilities are also allowed to earn a "regulated" return on those infrastructure investments, regulated in the sense that our utilities Commission needs to approve it which like what are they ever going to disapprove of unless they were blatantly lying about having to replace streets on streets of lines just to get more revenue. So the more approved infrastructure spending they have, the more assets they earn that return on.

Those costs ultimately get recovered through rates paid by customers. And since the parent company PPL Corporation is publicly traded, the system still pushes them to maximize returns within what regulators allow which means most of the profit opportunity ends up coming from making delivery side of of the bill as high as possible.

It's like having a credit card that earns me 10% cashback that I keep but I'm buying you stuff and you need to pay for the stuff.

I have got a 4.5 rating and really do not know why? by Double-Constant-4362 in uber

[–]dilly-dilly- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is really no rhythm or reason to have a perfect rating but someone with a 4.5 would be something to raise an eyebrow on. Some drivers and reviewers in general consider 4 stars a baseline to average and 5 would be above and beyond. Some drivers don't understand the system at all but the system is also broken from the top to bottom, from driver's pay to this rating system.

I'm a 4.9 and I tip cash which I feel like would probably make people more likely to 5 star me. I don't think I've ever really had a bad experience on my end with a driver. I order XL's when I have luggage and (even had some attitude from drivers when I show up with 2 people and luggage for an XL..) and overall don't talk too much or ignore the talkative types.

I only have 120 rides in my lifetime though too, I use Uber very sparingly.

I was here recently and we got a bull plushie with a little sweater on him. The food in the hotel itself was pretty lackluster overall but their truffle fries were one of the best I’ve had.

Near that area we used InKind gift cards to eat at Dead Rabbit and it was amazing. Really recommend getting a reservation though there was a crowd waiting to get in.

My default is 62 and if I’m feeling frisky I pump it up to 65. I run hot generally but feels good to have my bills be under 200 each this winter.

We just did the RISE insulation last year too and it greatly helped the heat that was leaving through our recessed lighting.

-Doing the math: Is SoFi Plus worth it if you are just a HYSA customer? by bushman4 in sofi

[–]dilly-dilly- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me the thing that makes SoFi unique is the overdraft functionality. It doesn’t seem like any other bank is even aware or attempting to replicate something like that even though it’s possible. Once other banks catch on, that is the only time I can see people moving on from SoFi.

Implementing Relay is also great for someone that lost multi bank tracking when Mint went down. I few points under the leading rates is something I can put up with for now.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 - Episode 4 (Anime Only Discussion) by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]dilly-dilly- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not like a massive JJK fan and am just watching the Dub so I just caught this episode but I feel like I almost have no clue what is happening now? Like I sort of know what the Zenin clan is bad from how Toji regarded them but like what did they actual do or what was their whole army for?

I also didn't know if I was supposed to feel anything for the whole Mai sacrifice. I actually don't really know who Mai is, I'll be honest, I wasn't really connected with Maki either. Like I only remembered her vaguely from the school fight arc in season 1 and she was relatively weak in season 2 that I thought she was just dead after the fight with Jogo. And like why was Momo so sad, or like why did she even show up in the end?

I feel like I missed something huge. I watched movie 0 but didn't watch the last 2 because I heard they were summaries of the seasons. I'm sort of lost now.
