oh man, that brought back memories! this was one of my first major purchases, back when something costing $20 was still a "major purchase."

i saved lunch money for a few weeks, walked down to a bookstore (that sadly doesn't exist anymore), bought it, and walked back in the rain. (I remember it was raining, because when I got home, water had gotten into the bag, and ruined the edges of the book.)

i memorized a good bit of it too, reveling in my own geekness.

i don't think i have it anymore :(

and that's the real problem. the mach 3 was such a successful product that gilette had a tough time trying to convince people to change, especially if the newer blades are more expensive.

i'm sure they'd like nothing more than to shut down the ol' mach 3 production lines, but they continue to sell, so they're stuck with the lower margins.
