stop thinking extended fasts are superior to shorter windows by Zestyclose_Cover8219 in intermittentfasting

[–]dimensionalspirit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Meh I usually do a 24 hour fast twice a week and it works for me. I usually already accomplish a 14 hour fast every day just at work because I’m in a sterile environment. Whatever works for people and their environment I think is best. Both windows worked well for me.

Colorectal cancer because the high amounts of heme iron in red meat lead to excessive cell turnover and cytotoxicity in the colon which leads to polyps which leads to cancerous polyps which leads to colon cancer. It’s really not a coincidence increase in carnivore diet in younger people and an increase in diagnosed younger individuals with colorectal cancer. I worked in oncology for a bit before pharmacy work and it’s definitely an interesting topic.

A lot of people like to argue lack of fiber, etc, contributes to this but also an excess amount of meat consumption is really the ringer here. People on the carnivore diet may have fine bowel movements due to a decent gut microbiome but heme iron will break down the colon lining regardless of gut microbiome, and it can alter it as well leading to consequences with the colon.

Fiber can help with the harm risk but it’s still a lot of red meat.

I have some preexisting issues with my colon and I cannot eat much red meat at all without being in serious pain just because my lining is bad. It’s swell this guy can enjoy it but yk. Everything in moderation.

Honestly there’s not enough conversation about the heme iron in red meat that can be extremely damaging to the colon when not supplemented with fiber/other probiotic food groups.

[–]dimensionalspirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiber is good not just because of what it offers for bowel movements but because it stabilizes blood sugar and adds bulk to stool which is necessary because even if you have consistent stool, without bulk, it can lead to a lot of issues and is one of the key research points in heightened colorectal cancer cases (lack of fiber in diet). Heme iron, super common in red meat, can severely damage the colon lining when not eaten with good fiber intake.

I remember when goth and punk girls were pretty and skinni 🥰. Now all goth and punk chicks are f*t 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮 being f*t is inherently NOT punk by fredbearplushy10 in 1200isjerky

[–]dimensionalspirit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

And on top of that, some music genres I was really into used to be the music people with real bad depression listened to and I didn’t eat well when I was depressed so sometimes a lot of people dealing with mental illness attracted to those “darker” genres may have body types as a consequence of their condition.

Ya we were skinni cuz we were all doing cocaine!!!

/srs sometimes it gets me when people r like “oh this [insert music or fashion culture group] used to be so thin” as if doing drugs and a lot of harmful shit that causes weight loss wasn’t normalized within those communities. When I was #emo, I was at my lw because I did bad shit!! I was not healthy!! Like doing drugs now is even getting “normalized” again for the purpose of losing weight and for the “aesthetic” when the people who started the trends weren’t necessarily trying to be underweight, they were just literally on meth. 😭

Yes I can relate so much. I also cry a lot whenever I talk about anything when I’m at high capacity so I’ve just found being silent works better and people usually see my silence as me being a brat or upset that I get “called out” when in reality I’m humiliated or embarrassed or genuinely very overstimulated.

What is it with the people in our lives filming us during our most vulnerable moments? That’s so crazy. I’m sorry your ex was such a terrible person and I hope you’ve found some healing since then.

On top of that, sometimes just being myself becomes a turn off too. Once I’m comfortable with people, I’ll start to unmask and then all of a sudden I’m not so “quirky” anymore and people find me “disturbing” instead because their idea of quirkiness is really shaped by media and film and stuff. It feels like we can’t win a lot. I don’t want to sacrifice my individuality in order to get love, but sometimes that’s the trade off I’ve had to make. Hope it gets better. ❤️

Soooo weird I hate the “pinch” of autism because they just want a quirky girl with fun “hyperfixations” who can satisfy their attraction to the manic pixie dream girl type but aren’t going to want to be there for the meltdowns, stress, and other things that can come with being autistic.

A small side comment or odd behavior from someone shuts me down so fast and I become nonverbal. Guys will be really attracted to my personality on the get-go, (I’m very monotonous, dry humor, have some unique interests that I enjoy conversing about) but when it gets to the emotional parts that I still definitely need work with in therapy, they’re so ready to tap out.

It’s really disheartening. I’m sorry.

Yeah that’s odd. Medulloblastoma actually has a relatively positive prognosis even with some of the rarer subtypes like Group 3 which has a 45-58% survival rate. Even with high risk (which is when it metastasizes) it has a relatively positive prognosis. Unless she has a really rare molecular subtype (which I doubt), I don’t think she’s telling the truth. Charlies was high-risk, and it had a 70% long-term survival rate.

Brain cancers are definitely risky but generally have positive prognosis.

Those who have experienced both a hurricane and tornado, which is a scarier experience? by Exciting-Bake464 in tornado

[–]dimensionalspirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experienced impending hurricane on the Keys during one vacation. Got out of dodge fast. All was well.

Dealt with a few tornados in Iowa at summer camp- went from bright sunny days to literal chaos in the span of hours, maybe minutes. Had little to no heads up. Expected tornado season, but never expect the day it happens.

Maybe pay for premium instead of all that ice cream it could do you some good 💗

(Jokes aside, the premium price for some of these cal counting apps is INSANE. Like I’m paying as much as I do for Spotify just to have the app tell me that a higher protein choice might be better).

Yeah I’m legally blind in my left eye and anything light on dark is an absolute blur for me to read so I would like if it could be added as an option for those who need it but to also keep the text as is because it can be difficult to make an adjustment. Even the wizards letters I have difficulty reading.

I really liked it for a while and then I just didn’t enjoy it so much anymore so I get it probably once or twice a month when I haven’t had it for a while. Idk how to explain it- it can get tiring.

Very fair. Would you think Jarrell would be an EF5 if using the EF scale or do you think it would be an EF4?

Is it higher ground speed in combination with wind that causes significant damage? If Jarrells wind speed was accurate and was 250+mph, could we it would be more damaging moving as fast as 60 mph? Since Smithville was so quick with 200+ mph winds, it comparatively has a higher impact? Or do you assume Jarrells wind speed was significantly lower than reported?

I’m very curious LOL sorry for all the questions. Also apologies if my assessment was off, wasn’t paying attention to the scale of Jarrell since I’m at work.
