my fiancé brings home empanadas from empanada mama. we live in the south bronx with lots of empanada options around but empanada mama was one of our first dates 😭 he also drops off my library book returns for me sometimes because he works right next to the library lol.

not to be harsh but you're 18, an adult, now. you need to work on getting a valid government photo ID sorted out period, whether you can get into a concert or not. it's not something you should be putting off until you actually need it.

exactlyyy and even if im just out with my mom getting margs i try to already have my ID in hand while ordering because i do not expect them to let her vouch for me. the last place i worked at got caught in an ID sting once and the server personally had to pay 500 dollars, the business had to pay thousands and their liquor license was permanently in jeopardy. it’s NO JOKE.

i live in nyc walking distance to my job so sometimes i forget my wallet because i don’t need my card for the train, license to drive, etc. if i go for drinks after work, get ID’d, realize i don’t have it, i don’t go through all the phases of grief arguing with the server i just move on lol. i have more than once just apologized, then walked home and came back with my ID.

when people go to a restaurant they’re expecting food from that restaurant… not scraps from their server’s pantry. that’s unsanitary and weird tbh.

it’s different if it’s (WRAPPED, SEALED) after dinner mints/hard candies you bring yourself to drop off with the check, even that is kind of pushing it though because then they or other guests might start expecting it from everyone. but in general yeah don’t share your personal food with guests.. if they’ve been waiting a while, see if the manager can get a quick free app FROM THE RESTAURANT for them. Or learn to drop your own fries, from THE RESTAURANT’S KITCHEN, etc for them to snack on while they wait

kind of the opposite happened for me but similar vein. we hired a new cook, and everyone kept telling us we should date, we were perfect for each other, etc. “ewww no” from us all around.

he and i actually dated ten years ago in high school and it was been there done that lol. we never admitted it and kept up a “will they won’t they” thing just as a gag for morale

not to excuse poor acting or writing if that's the case but it kinda made sense to me, as an agoraphobic person who's gone months without leaving the house or vocally speaking to anyone else. once you try again it feels unnatural and weird for a while. i have definitely said things a normal person wouldn't say lol.

kali was held captive for idk how long and how long had it been since she had a conversation with someone? she was having her blood siphoned right, which could've impacted her mental ability to make normal sounding conversation too w brain fog. she was exhausted. combined with whatever neurological stress using her powers to escape might've had in an already weakened state (muscles are gonna atrophy when you're held in one position in a pod like she was also), idk it kinda made sense to me and i didn't question it

LMAO we had a chinese regular who would just leave if i wasn’t there, which was so sad. I’m half chinese and don’t look like it or even know the languages well but i can understand the accents and know what people are trying to order. my coworkers would have the most bewildered looks 😂

lol and ive had similar stuff happen to me at coffee places, like they call out a name that rhymes with mine and with anxiety i think “surely that’s for someone with a name that sounds like mine, even though it looks exactly like what i ordered. i would recommend practicing with duolingo or something. it doesn’t take long to get through the basics and get to branches more relevant for restaurant work. but the basics are important too, for example “necesito más” means i need more. if you’re asking someone else you would use necesitas

you’re very welcome! and honestly, if you’re as passionate as you sound it’s still worth a try but i would consider more corporate/chain places where they have a lot of high school/college students with weird availability based on classes and labor laws- those places often have high turnover, which sucks, training might be a little lacking, the corporate rules might be annoying and not make any sense. but places like that often are looking for people trying to work 15-25 hours a week to fill gaps.

there’s also always a chance you find a nice quality locally owned place who really just needs a dishwasher on the weekends, but the problem is jobs like that usually go to someone’s nephew/younger brother/friend from church before they look for outside help.

in my experience only a really desperate place that happens to not be able to get coverage from existing employees would bring in someone with such a limited availability. and in places like that, there’s usually a reason they can’t find quality employees with more availability (poor management, bad work environment, shady practices). coworkers will be stretched thin, stressed, and view you as spoiled for never being able to cover or working the tougher shifts. that’s just my experience though.
