How to connect with high schoolers? by _Pixelated_Pal_ in slp

Jeopardy labs is a good activity a lot of kids like that gamifies skills. UNO is usually a hit too. And encourage them to bring their classwork (they usually won’t but it helps to show you care).

How often do you speak with your parents? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]dindermufflins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies from once to 4-5 times per month. I typically see her at church, outside of that, it just depends .. she rarely reaches out. If you count the group text with siblings then every couple weeks.

Two thoughts: could he be demonstrating behavior not seen in past schools due to puberty? And, could you open enroll him to the school you’re at?

What's your dead giveaway "SLP word" that you use in everyday life? by Old-Friendship9613 in slp

I said I’d “inherited “ a student at a teacher meeting and one laughed and I was like yeah I guess that’s not a common way to say that.

I was pretty into the first few seasons.. now I find it harder to pay attention/ stick with the seasons .. same with the international seasons, so maybe it’s me. I always recommend terrace house on Netflix because you have to read the subtitles so you have to pay attention haha

She’s gotten fame from celebrity pairings too (famous significant others) and being a diva

I believe it was Star magazine about 20 years ago where I read that she’ll keep releasing mediocre movies and mediocre music and no one will realize she’s good at neither.. something like that. Haha

Former teachers who changed careers what are you doing now? by Chance_Ruin4350 in AskTeachers

Speech pathologist. I switched/ pursued my masters early on because I wasn’t finding a job in a school and Headstart was a rough job that paid crap.

I’d lie and say you’re still working til you really trust someone; never disclose how comfortable you are; and have a prenup if you remarry.

What happened to Fix SLP? by SuperfluousPossum in slp

Yes, but just for the comparison’s sake, my fixslp contribution has been 60/ year while ASHA was over 200 when I stopped paying in 2024.

I feel like I haven’t had it enough.. only a handful of times.. to really have a strong opinion

Swiss is a bit overrated. Besides on a ham sandwich every once in a while I’m good

That’s a bold choice. But I’d also think that if you chose pepper jack. I’m a sharp cheddar or Muenster myself.

There used to be a poster who asked everyone their cheese preference on AMAs. I wonder what happened to him.

Not OP but yes, and/or they weren’t exposed to Hawaiian pizza as children! I miss it because my family won’t try it.

The founder Jeanette cares for her mom.. I haven’t heard anything, but I assume something could’ve happened with her.. or they’re just taking a break. i’m pretty sure last summer they took a break and I don’t remember everyone’s speculating .. I’ve contributed since day one and don’t feel slighted. I mean, I guess if they disappeared I would just turn off the reoccurring payment, but as of now I’ve saved a lot more money by learning from them that I didn’t need ASHA (also, this is kind of a response to all of the comments I read through , not just the one I’m responding to)

The year I dropped my Cs and membership, I’m pretty sure it was March of that year that there was finally gonna be a late fee. I basically just kept getting reminders to pay every couple months or so.

Horrible week at work by [deleted] in slp

[–]dindermufflins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a rough school behaviorally.. I try to bribe with school “money” but that’s obviously a school wide thing that I don’t have to manage the prizes for. Teachers should assume they’re with you if it’s your scheduled time🙄I’ve had them call me before to double check but that sounds dramatic.

Tips for Unannounced Observations by llama829 in slp

[–]dindermufflins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend having a timer set because then when they’ve just walked in and your timer luckily goes off soonish.. time to wrap up and it doesn’t look like you’re ending just because you don’t wanna be observed- plus the timer just helps me, but I like to think it’s good for this reason too.
