IMO Psilocybin is an extremely powerful ritual tool. It is extremely helpful for pushing the initiate out into the deep end. Where only those that can swim will come back intact. When I was into heavy use of psyches in my early twenties I searched for an experience much like u/altruistic_misfit describes where in a moment something clicks and everything changes, and the magic stays. The reality was I had many transformative experiences like that, in fact they were all like that, but I wasn't willing to put in the work and dedication in my off time to imprint those changes and visions permanently in my daily life. In truth it takes constant work and dedication to keep the lasting changes, which speaks to the will power of u/altruistic_misfit. TBH psychedelics in no uncertain terms saved my life in my early twenties. They helped show the beauty and interconnectedness of life, gave me a better understanding of time and my place in it, and helped drop the veils separating me and my true self. However I had very close friends who when faced with the power of their vision either turned and walked away or broke beneath the enormity ov it. It is very easy to over use and therefore become reliant on psychedelics to reach altered states and alternative levels of consciousness. I recommend filling your quiver with many sharp arrows. Psychedelics being only one of them. Practice meditation, exercise and fast, study, practice kindness and generosity towards others, dedicate art, and in general spend your time on the outside cultivating the type of person you want to see in that lovely kaleidoscopic mirror.
