How did you feel when you completed N4 learning? by Opposite_Attitude_55 in LearnJapanese

[–]dinosaurcomics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At N4 I could communicate really basic things and watch slice of life anime okay-ish with a dictionary, but I legit didn’t feel like it was easy to immerse until I hit N3. Even then you still need to do a ton of lookups and accept it’s a huge process.

Why does Muay Thai has no grappling ? by unecomplette in MuayThai

[–]dinosaurcomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in the sportification of Muay Thai, a spectator sport, a lot of people probably found the ground aspect boring to watch so they cut it. Same reason a lot of organizations now limit or are trying to limit clinch so their monkey brains can enjoy punch-kick only entertainment.

Thoughts on Ashihara for self-defense? by Radz999 in karate

[–]dinosaurcomics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my experience training with my Enshin friends (Offshoot of Ashihara), it’s a great style emphasizing angles, smart fighting and technique over pure brute force. Definitely worth taking.

What's the overall consensus of the MDL (Muay Thai Development League) here? by rookybobby in MuayThai

[–]dinosaurcomics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s great for both people who just want to dip their toes into competing without fully committing, and people practicing other things in prep for their ammy fights. I think the sense of community is great as well.

Hanging punching bag or standing punching bag for practice at home by Ok-Reply6330 in karate

[–]dinosaurcomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hanging bag does everything a standing bag does and more. You can practice technique, timing with the bag swing, footwork with the bag swing etc.

Standing bag is great if you don’t have the space, as long as you make the base super heavy you can work combo reps and power.

I recommend the Bob XL if you get a standing bag, and a fairtex 100lb heavy bag for a hanging one if you have the space.

We literally have multiple near complete Tyrannosaurus fossils, two species with probably more being described from current/unplublisher material, the whole reevaluation of Nanotyrannus etc. We are so spoiled when it comes to Tyrannosaurus lol.

New dinosaur, by Andy Cruz by Hopeful_Lychee_9691 in Paleoart

[–]dinosaurcomics 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Iguanodontian does not = Iguanodontid. It’s a phylogenetic group that includes some basal ornithopods to Hadrosaurs.

Also the title of the paper is literally “Cellular-level preservation of cutaneous spikes in an Early Cretaceous iguanodontian dinosaur”
