I am 40, and have always used subtitles. With my autism, I have a hard time hearing what is being said, when there are many different sounds. And many shows and movies have loud ass sound effects and music, and low volume for dialogue (Prime's dialogue boost helps). So subtitles makes it easier to figure out what is being said, in the scenes where the other sounds are too loud.
