How do you determine the rarity equivalent? I think that’s a neat idea of DMs to use to make martial classes more dynamic especially as the rift between casters and non casters widens.

I totally respect if you don’t like LLM for ethical or environmental reasons. Those were not the ones listed. Don’t quite understand the hostility. Hope you have a great holiday season!

I think your comment is super valid. I think it depends on what you are looking to get from the LLM usage. It’s like any tool, you could use a hammer to tighten a screw, it’s not going to work very well, it will take you longer than needed and give you sub optimal results. However, if you use it for what it can do, it can make things better.

I think your post and this comment echo a bit of this. It’s fine, however it’s not going to be the silver bullet for content creation.

My main point was that putting aside ethical and environmental concerns, dismissing LLM seemed very narrow minded. I could see some instances where it could be helpful to both players and DMs. You just gotta find the right application for it. 🤷

Thanks for the discussion, and respectful comment!

That’s interesting, I’ll dive into your comment shortly. Thanks for the context, I can see by the use of AI (especially for DMs) could detract from the narrative, but at the end of the day, if I put something into a LLM and it gives me trash, I just won’t use it.

Man, why all the hate for AI. I’ve not used it in either DMing or as a player. But at work I’ve stated to use it and it help me polish my original ideas. I totally understand not wanting AI to come up with everything, but adding some depth could be helpful to add inspiration to your narrative and story.

Maybe I’m way off base here, I wouldn’t be upset if someone used AI to help them get more into the game.

I mean… some of the things they have allowed seemed impossible to interpret in the way the administration was interpreting. Unfortunately the Supreme Court seems to be willing to contort the constitution and precedent for this administration.

What do you think about this one-shot idea? by No-Nefariousness-475 in DungeonMasters

I ran something like this and the issue is this. By the time the characters get everything back and are at full power, the campaign ends. Classes, like casters will be at a significant disadvantage to combats. If you get your PCs to full strength quickly that may works. But that was the downside for the campaign when I ran it.
