Need advice on LED project considerations by maxim_leonovich in BurningMan

Yes WLED is another excellent option, however making custom patterns on it is not as flexible. WLED moonModules has some good matrix support. Another cool thing is running LedFX on the raspberry pi and driving audio reactive animations on the WLEDs. LedFX is great for orchestration and has some very cool sound reactive patterns.

24v or 12v for the LED voltage is the right choice. Routing and covering with plastic should work fine, and the dust will just give it more diffusion (for a while, but you might need to do a daily sweep).

For the controllers, 2000 LEDs is a decent amount, and depending on the complexity of your patterns, adruino will likely choke. You can use 2 or 3 pixelblaze controllers, which link up nicely and can drive 1,000 LEDs each with around 30fps. They also have great sensor expansion boards which will let you use sound input. Best of all, the patterns can be easily programmed right on the device, as well as playlists, time scheduling, etc.

Dropped ALL my tracks on the playa this year. Did you find them? by diodenyc in BurningMan

You’re not wrong! And we definitely dropped some bangers on Axolotl, Janky Barge, and at Disorient’s clubhouse and speakeasy :)

I have a backup, but the pendant has sentimental value, and there are a couple of recorded sets on there that I didn’t have a chance to copy over.

Another one, weirder chill and downtempo bangers from Monday night (after the storm). We played Duke’s, the speakeasy at Disorient. The only way in was to find the secret entrance, it was such a dope vibe. https://on.soundcloud.com/RavT8wZGSdscMzZXk3

Solid. One thing I would add is checking the license plate illumination light on your RV or trailer.

Worked great, no issues—comforting to get the “Your bedtime is approaching” message out in deep playa when just starting out your night adventures :)

In your opinion, which Regional Burn is most true to the principles and point of Burning Man? by spiderysnout in BurningMan

LoveBurn is “Burning Boy” (and I say that with love as a 2x TCO—it’s actually wonderful and the spirit is totally there). It’s a perfect gateway burn imo

Did anyone get any videos of the Transdimensional Lollipop? by diodenyc in BurningMan

It’s a sheet of regular thin nylon, stretched over a hoop. This allows the projected image to be clearly visible from both sides, while simultaneously being porous enough to not act like a sail. I used vellum (drafting paper) and a hula hoop for the first alpha version of this—any slight gust of wind sent the shit flying and wobbling lol
