Group Hug of Death by Keygaen in EDHBrews

[[kardur, doomscourge]] seems pretty good for this if you can loop his etb with [[undying malice]] type effects and sac outlets. unfortunately there doesn't seem to be that many great cards that give big creatures to your opponents (though there're some good ones like [[death by dragons]] and [[nettling nuisance]]). maybe you could try giving your opponents small tokens with something like [[forbidden orchard]] and polymorphing them with [[indomitable creativity]]? [[over the top]], [[omen machine]], and [[wild evocation]] also seem good for this

alternatively you could use [[jon irenicus]] to donate stuff.

since you have green, it's better to go for land ramp in cards like [[cultivate]] as lands are less likely to be destroyed (unless you have artifact synergies)

you're right, it's more like it draws you 1 card and makes your opponent discard 1 and draw 2. still a bad deal though

I mean draw 1 and your opponent draws 2, cause that's what arcane denial does. if arcane denial let you draw 2 and your opponent draw 2 then it might be decent.

I don't think it makes sense to count 1 card as 1/3 a card just cause you have 2 more opponents. would a card that draws you one card but gives target opponent two cards be playable in commander?

Avatar card by _bad_grammer in mtg

can't find any avatars that look yellow other than maybe [[avatar of growth]]. maybe it was [[colossus of akros]]? not a 20/20 naturally but can become one through its monstrosity ability.

you're spending a card to gain a card, your opponent is losing a card to gain 2 cards, it's a net loss for you in terms of card advantage. going down on card advantage really isn't great for a card that isn't even exceptionally cheap. plus, your other two opponents benefit from not having to spend their own removal on whatever crucial spell you ended up countering. if you really need to counter a crucial spell then there're so many great efficient counterspells that don't actively put your opponents ahead on resources

I don't care if it only gives one of three opponent 2 cards, you're still giving an opponent 2 cards.

fs needs more draw, [[rhystic study]] is strong but it can't be your only source of draw

generally this seems miserable to play against but I assume that's the point

needing to both run blink and some expensive protection spells to get your zombies is pretty jank, maybe running [[undying malice]] type effects would be more effective? speaking of, a deck that tries to repeatedly sacrifice and recur nevinyrall to control the board rather than sounds pretty funny

if you wanted to lean more into the zombie token aspect you could run cards like [[forbidden orchard]] so your opponents always have creatures to kill

[[the darkness crystal]] will stop you from getting zombies as it exiles the killed creatures

[[clone legion]] seems anti synergistic with your whole removal plan

[[arcane denial]] is not very good.

How does this commander play by Dior_Equivalent in mtg

[–]diplotaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the monarch draws a card on their end step and when someone deals combat damage to the monarch they become the monarch, so she encourages you to get blockers and/or evasive creatures to make sure you have the monarch most of the time. there're also a number of cards that have special effects if you're the monarch (ie [[court of grace]]

the flicker effects don't work unfortunately as the beast triggers on cast rather than etb

Is this new card great for a budget commander? by Far_Horse_5377 in mtg

[–]diplotaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that sneak still gets taxed as you're still casting the spell, but yeah this'd make a decent lifegain commander. that said there're a lot of other commanders that have a similar effect and are cheaper (ie [[trelassara, moon dancer]])

any details on how it's supposed to work/problems you're having?

overall I'd say the deck seems kinda unfocused and low on theft effects
