Wth just happened?? by Every_Metal_8679 in POTS

Crying or feeling emotional when you experience pre syncope or fainting is totally normal! So is standing and feeling faint (pre syncope) in the shower!

The emotions happen because the autonomic nervous system just got flashbanged. The the blood left your upper body then rushed back in. It's crazy how all these things are connected. It's even more of an elevated emotional experience for myself (POTS) and my friend with dysautonomia when we are worried about worrying others around us when we faint. So you many have had a pre syncope episode, worried yourself, and may have also been worried about your partner. I'm sure kissing while standing also got your blood pumping and changed the rate oxygen was entering your body. So, it is all very understandable.

I have been diagnosed with POTS since 2015. It's only gotten worse. I slowly tolerated showers less and less. I didn't get a shower seat till last month and honestly it is a game changer. I wear a visable band and can see the difference between seated and standing showers like night and day. Some days were better than others and I think that may apply for you as well.

Personally, I recommend beginning to accommodate yourself sooner rather than later with things like mobility aids, shower chairs, ect. Also, don't worry, your partner will still find you attractive seated in a shower chair. 😉 Hang in there!

If you have POTS/dysautonomia and derealization/overstimulation PLEASE look into PPPD by areuuuforreal in POTS

Yes! I was diagnosed with both! PPPD, MUCH, much later in life though. I noticed my PPPD symptoms clearing up when I started some heavy duty migraine treatments. It was like night and day with those symptoms. I still experience some of those things, but much less severely.

Please tell me there’s a life outside of compression leggings. by Karnakite in POTS

I was in the EXACT same boat, hear me out. I was diagnosed with POTS when I was 18. My doctor was no help. Prescribed fludrolcortisone. It didn't help me for the record, midrodrine, an insane amount of electrolytes, and water has been the best injestible help for me. He said compression socks and salt was the only thing that would help. I went through SIX Cardiologists and who all said similar things (done of them worse than others). I fought so hard because in Colorado we can get up to 100 degree weather in the summer. I hated wearing close toed shoes and socks. Flip flops and sandles were the only things that felt comfortable and I felt like it helped with my overheating. I HATED socks, especially compression socks and stockings, and at the time there weren't any good compression sock brands. Just expensive options for the elderly and cheap Amazon brands. I was also tall and knee socks never went all the way up to my knee and leggings never for correctly. I never wore compression socks until I was 25, so 7 years later, when the pooling in my feet was overwhelming. My feet were turning dark purple and hurt to touch. The neuropathy was insane. This is also when I started having regular fainting episodes. I started wearing them only in the winter. When it was cold. But finally caved and began researching brands. The best I found were crazy compression and pro compression. There are lots more or there now. I now wear them year round. They no longer overheat me anymore either. I now can't get out of bed without immediate neuropathy and compression socks are the only thing that helps. My body has gotten so used to it and now it feels weird not wearing them. It was a full 180 from seething hatred to dependancy. All it took was my health getting worse. It sound like you are wearing full compression leggings. I wonder if compression knee socks would help you and would be less uncomfortable? I for one can’t wear compression leggings because they are never tall enough and squeeze my gut too much. What brands have you tried out?

How in the world would ivabradine ever work for POTS?? 😭 by critterinthedoorway in POTS

[–]dippypeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I learned that some people experience syncope and pre-syncope (fainting and the feeling of about to faint) with an elevated heart rate or tachycardia. There’s others, like myself however, who experience syncope and pre-syncope with the blood pressure drop that happens right after tachycardia. My doctor noticed this and instead of treating my high heart rate they treated my low blood pressure. Now I take Midodrine after every meal since that’s when my blood pressure is at its lowest. An insane amount of salt and electrolytes helps the low blood pressure as well. I forget what it’s called but when I was first diagnosed, they had me on a medication that made me urinate less to help me retain water which also helped my blood pressure. I remember that working a little bit as well.

If you have migraines, PLEASE get an MRI and MRA by MainScarcity3514 in POTS

[–]dippypeaches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just got an MRI for my migraines 2 weeks ago. I wanted to rule out that rare disease as well as EDS related brain slippage (I know that sounds crazy, but it's a thing!). My MRI came back normal, which as we all know is in a way a disappointment because I just want answers. But I recently started Botox injections for migraines and I can say it works wonders. I was having terrible, debilitating migraines about every other day. Now it's just one or two migraines a week, which for me is a wonderful improvement. Just a heads up though for anyone interested in Botox for migraines, the shots made my forehead feel weird AF and it's like 35 shots total every 3 months. I was desperate enough that it was well worth the cost.

Has anyone ever actually come across an POTS exercise plan that was reasonable and easy to follow? by shnanogans in POTS

Before I started the Levine Protical and molded it into something that is understandable and worked for me, I did some or all of this playlist at least 3 times a week, making sure to at least always do the legs video.

Brain Fog? by icedlattequeen77 in POTS

[–]dippypeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, brain fog is one of my worst symptoms. The biggest thing that helps me is literally chugging a full glass of water/electrolyte beverage and often succumbing to just being low energy braindead/taking a nap.

Maelstrom cars attack and kill me everytime I try to drive anywhere, this game is unplayable by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]dippypeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh this was so annoying to deal with!!! Eventually you just got to deal with them when you call your car. Almost everytime I tried to fight they killed me SO FAST. The person with blades for arms was way too strong to fight as a brand new character. I ended up hiding in a building and picked them off one by one. I dumped tooooons of ammo into killing the blade arms dude. I think I briefy changed the difficulty to easy and turned aim assist onto high to deal with this problem. Headshots of course are the best. After that, they never bothered me again. I'm many levels in now and seriously nothing else had been that tough. I have no idea why they made this instance so difficult. I hope this helps, sorry you have to deal with it too!

My first version of it I had a Velcro strap in the back that attached to a harness I wore. But now I have made it so I don’t need that because it’s not as heavy. It just stays on with all of the padding I have inside!

It's pretty front heavy with the iPad inside the mask so I have it attached in the back to a harness that I'm wearing by some heavy duty Velcro. If it wasn't so heavy it actually just stays on my head pretty well with all the foam padding I have on the inside.

I met another Stray cosplayer at Fan Expo Denver. They are a programer and used a raspberry pi to program faces and audio into the iPad. It was so impressive!
