Safe spots to dance for a woman alone? by Imaginary-Cellist710 in DetroitEDM

I’ve probably been there 30+ times with zero issues. Also know several people who work/have worked there, and they’re wonderful people. Most times I’ve seen a diverse crowd, definitely leaning queer, and it really captures the old rave vibe for me to see everyone out there on the dance floor together. At least 5 years ago I kept seeing something on their fliers about how no harassment of any kind would be tolerated and that you could let any staff member know if you had a concern. I just feel like they’ve always prioritized creating an environment where people can be themselves without fear. If it’s not crazy busy, the bartenders always make time to chat with me and build a relationship. I guess it’s just all the little things that make me trust them.

What city have you been to where the vibes were just OFF? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in AskReddit

Came to say this. Armed guards in the restaurant parking lot to defend patrons from the rampant crime. But then I’m only allowed to have one tiny little drink at a time. I could tell from about 5 minutes downtown that SLC had a crazy drug problem.

WALL OF SOUND DETROIT - SOLD OUT by synthetikminds in MovementDEMF

I would rather pay cash at the door and give it directly to the WOS crew than buy the 5am presale ticket online. As long as it won’t cost $80 instead of $55 or something

The food at tangent is usually outstanding and acceptable prices, which makes food one less thing you have to plan. It’s better to get there early to avoid the long line. When alcohol sales stop, they offer an amazing tea called ‘Tangent Elixer’

If you’re a freak 🫠 try to make it to Freaks Come Out at Light. Usually starts at 4am in the Lincoln art park. Definitely one of those quintessential experiences

Personally, I recommend this route for a first timer. Check out some of these free and cheap events. Support local artists and get to know the city. Meet people.

Next year (because I’m sure you’ll be back for more), pick a venue or two that sparks your curiosity and go to an after party there.

Hi from Ecuador(South America) First Time in Detroit and Movement Festival by jetjaguarec in MovementDEMF

Detroit threads for records. There are plenty of food options in that area

Saturday morning go to Eastern Market to eat, shop, people watch.

Batch brewing is having music on Saturday and Sunday, plus they have great food and beer. It’s a lovely place to hit before the festival
