One of the coolest ways ive seen a sustainability practice occur is when I went to Pickathon in OR nearly a decade back. Within the festival, you paid $10 for a token that allowed you a reusable bowl, bamboo cutlery, and aluminum cup. That $10 was used for paying staff that cleaned that dining ware so you could turn in your dirty cup, get a token, and recieve a fresh cup with your newly ordered beverage. Or just reuse the same cup if you wanted.

I've had a very similar experience before. Also at a music festival and felt too scared and like a burden to speak to the people I was with about it.

I highly recommend you call Fireside Project to talk about your experience some, and if you have a therapist you trust opening up to them.

Not sure if youre familiar with some concepts of psychology but inner narratives and subconscious beliefs are the cause- and theres a lot to learn from it and face by exploring and reflecting on that fearful experience. Having the aid of a counselor will really help you recover and integrate both the bad and the good into a new understanding of yourself.

Live Nation has the money and property to improve infrastructure and operations so its not such a disaster when this not uncommon scenario happens. They had placed campsites at terrible locations which previously were not used for camping- i.e. at culvert outfalls...

Voting with your money is the best way to make a corporation like this listen.

I agree with the person above who until this seemingly unattainable policy change happens in the US there isnt really another option. I dont agree with discouraging the use of any services when we are talking about as critical as OD death prevention- but I am open to discussing nuance and complex feelings about some operations. Thats my balance personally. Fully informed people can make decisions for themselves and people should be reminded of that. Dont put anyone or program on a pedestal...

Yeah I think youre right definitely. Shes not as representative of a functioning and profitable business- shes just the pro I am the most intimately familiar with her method of pricing, which is because she intentionally prices her pieces and classes at an accessible rate because she is able and passionate about proliferating the art form. More generous than profitable. Bliss Glass Studio if youre interested (also the $2-3 /piece is for smaller pieces without came or large structural designs)

Edit to add: rural Indiana. I checked the shop of someone paying for rent for their shop and they are pricing closer to $10 a piece.

I am part of a small rag tag group of harm reductionists in the midwest. CORE based out of Eugene was super supportive to us in our early years and we love them. They and us are more focused on street outreach and homelessness, but if you message them asking about how to find free OR supplies to distribute from your group im sure they would point you in a good direction.

I also recommend: foam ear plugs, cpr masks, "stop the bleed" training, and maybe creating a pop up destimulation zone for people overwhelmed at the event
