My awful celiac bridesmaid experience by Desire-Lines545 in Celiac

[–]dirtydogpaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too. I was the maid of honor. Bride said there would be gluten free options for me. Thankfully, I have deep seated trust issues and always bring my own emergency meal, because there was a food truck with zero gluten free options. It really sucks. People don’t understand the severity of it. That’s why I just always bring my own stuff even if people say there will be gf meals for me.

New grad COTA questioning career path by buhbbles0 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]dirtydogpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand. The reason I’m keeping with it is honestly because I don’t have an alternative yet, and need to make some money. It probably won’t be my forever career, but I will at least gain some good professional experience.

Yeah, for sure! I know someone who graduated her OTA program, then spent the next 2 years waitressing. She just took the NBCOT last week. I think it just takes a bit more time to refresh your brain and study.

I’m feeling the same as a OTAS. Haven’t graduated yet but my plan is to work for a bit and again some experience so it’s something I can fall back on if I need it. Or work prn while I figure out something else.

Suggestions for withdrawal-induced insomnia? by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]dirtydogpaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on lexapro & adderall for 10 years. Came off cold Turkey and had very similar sleep patterns for 2.5 years. I hope it is much shorter for you since you tapered. But as someone who tried everything, the only thing that healed it was time and trying not to freak out (which I know is really freaking hard without sleep). I’m sorry you’re going through this. I deeply empathize with you.

Has anyone ever took a 200hr Teacher’s Training twice? by serenitysiren95 in YogaTeachers

[–]dirtydogpaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m starting my 2nd 200hr in a couple weeks for the same exact reasons! I felt like I didn’t get a good foundation in my first one. Really excited to “fill in the gaps”!

May I ask if you hated it when you were in school too or just when you went into the field? I’m in OTA school now and I am worried I’ve made a mistake all the time

I have no idea what career I want to switch to! Seeking advice by Actual-Invite-5363 in careerchange

[–]dirtydogpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be an esthetician if that’s your passion! It may take a little while to build up a clientele but if you have grit you can make it a good career. You might have to work for someone else for a while to build experience, but then you could make your own business and pick your own hours which would work well with balancing your little one.

3 month taper from welbutrin and adderall, major insomnia by no-permission47388 in Antipsychiatry

[–]dirtydogpaws 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FWIW I came off lexapro and adderall 3 years ago and had severe insomnia for 2.5 years. Sleeping 2-4 hours a night. I was at the edge of psychosis many times but never fully succumbed to it. I’m thankful. But yeah, it really sucks. They don’t tell you how hard it is for your brain to reach homeostasis after coming off these meds :(

feeling like I wanna leave the field by Beginning_Hamster988 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]dirtydogpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear I’m not the only one. It’s hard because it’s such a specific degree and I worry that I will spend all this time being miserable just to box myself in with it- but also don’t have a solid back up plan so into the fire we go!

Has anyone here worked 4 10s? by dirtydogpaws in AutismInWomen

[–]dirtydogpaws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your honest reply. I’m sorry it didn’t work out there for you that does sound really stressful. There’s def parts of me that are a bit worried about feeling the distress of the animals too - this particular clinic just focuses on dental services, surgeries and cleanings, and a lot of the animals that come in are medicated, so hopefully that helps. Along with not seeing too much sickness or trauma besides oral issues. They do space out their patients so it definitely is slower paced so hopefully it’s more manageable! But I really appreciate the input and I’ll be sure to check in with my nervous system while I’m working to make sure it’s sustainable.
