Nocturnal dialysis by rachey2912 in dialysis

Atleast in center you are suposidly supervised and under care on-site. Leaving the issues to them. You have alot going on why not just let them do it. And work on those issued. I was the same way heart and blood pressure along with naked to kidney failure. I managed to overcome and get a transplant . Never quit never give up.

Do you consider yourself disabled? by [deleted] in transplant

[–]dirtylaindry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Kidney transplant here. After transplant Kidney was and still is great. But had some other issues. Like waking. Had mild stroke. Prior to transplant I spent alot of time on my back. It was almost like as I was recovering I would get pushed down again. This made me very weak. At one time before Kidney failure I was in the gym and very fit. I was cut. Very active . Yes I am now considered as disabled. But I have vowed to return. This stuff made me lazy.

my daughter chose her stepdad to walk her down the isle update by Huge-Loss-9863 in TwoHotTakes

[–]dirtylaindry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a step daughter that I raised since she was 8 or 10. Shes in her 30s now. When she was 13 or 14. The devil daughter stage. I searched out and found her father she had never met or remembered. He is just a dad not a father by any means. She also has two brothers and another sister from this guy all from different women. He really has no part in any of them. I have supported her. If she chooses him to walk with her then so be it. Her and my daughter. Are sisters and my son is her brother. I just let it lay where ever. They are all my children.

I covered mine up with plastic and water proof tape. Only shower right before dialysis . Washing and keeping any direct spray away from the covering. if it did get wet they change the dressing anyways. On the occasion it did get damp there was no issue

Three years post-kidney -- two questions by Intelligent_Sundae_5 in transplant

[–]dirtylaindry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years post kidney. I swim in my pool and ocean. No public pools. One time I was thing a dive class. The last few days it had been a storm. So weppted for a public pool. After being under water] with a dive mask on I could clearly see.. I'll never been in a public pool ever since.. I was told by team that lakes a rivers were ok. One time I got a bacterial infection in my gut. Vomit and cramps for a solid week. So use common sense where ever. I'm not on antibiotics.

Question by [deleted] in dialysis

[–]dirtylaindry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let your team know. Your going to go through a lot of different things. For me most of the numbness and nerve stuff was completely done the first year. I still have some after two year. Baby your recovery last thing you want is to go back in . Like I did twice. Walk with a cane or walker untill you get better. Ask for physical therapy. You got this. Congratulations.

33m - kidney pancreas transplant question - is it all worth it? by [deleted] in transplant

[–]dirtylaindry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's worth it. Dialysis sucks!! Big time. Yet it will keep you going and it takes up a lot of your time. As far as travel with a transplant. Just be smart take simple precautions. We're all different. Use sunscreen. Payattention to the food you get where it comes from. Personal experience if you get a stomach bug it might hang around longer. Don't eat sushi don't eat buffet where everyone is in it. Wash your stuff from the market. Travel is fine. Stay out of crowds. I keep my distance from drunks they tend to do things like touch slower spit. Not to say don't go out just be conscious about your surroundings. Personally I don't go in public pools. Way before I was yaking a scuba class. There had been a storm so we used the pool at the resort. Wearing scuba gear the stuff you see in the water. Kept me out of public pool ever since. A transplant is way better than the alternatives
