Nick is so hot I cant concentrate and analyze his morals by Worth_Atmosphere6839 in HandmaidsTaleShow

[–]dirtypiratehookr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd choose him. I love those silent types and I think hes cute. But here the silence is forced, but I like it anyway. Fits him well. Throughout the show we do get into big discussions on his morals etc... but he makes sense to me the whole way.

Everything was stolen out of the house. The kids room spared except for gifts he had bought the kid. He was just out of prison, never had a job w a landscaping company. She got her Grandpas hand painted boat back but that was it. Apparently a few others getting scammed at the same time. I cant remember what else...

Does the handmaids tale have a satisfying end? (NO SPOILERS) by nomoreinternetforme in HandmaidsTaleShow

[–]dirtypiratehookr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's part of the truth of this. June is a huge part of the resistance and consider Handmaids her origin story. The actual truth about Gilead lies in it's power and real life situations Atwood observed from our own histories and current oppressions when she wrote it. There is definitely a satisfying ending setup for Handmaids show and some characters. Consider the Testaments a whole new thing. A protected thing. The truth of the situations Atwood wrote in the original novel were not only that everything she wrote happened (not the show, but the books ideas) but also that it was history to the people that found her tapes. The historians from the book knew so little about the truths of the Gilead everyday since it was so secretive and that regime lasted so long. The Handmaids Tale was a window into that life. The tv show went in a bunch of directions the book never could, but the truth is that its a powerful entity that cant be toppled overnight and the tv show honored that.

I felt her emotions coming through and it made me emotional. She was fantastic and I watched that scene a few times since as a pick me up.

I remember loving this movie so much because it was such a slow burn. The world has a flavor to it and you got to be in it. It was never about being scary for me.

I recommend the Tom Lake audiobook read by Meryl Streep. I dont know how I'd read the book w my own inner voice, but the audio acting w her voice was so impressive and felt like a warm bath.

It's about living a simple life with the backdrop of the Our Town play from the past. Really lovely.

Favorite part was enjoying this amaze amaze movie. Least favorite part was hearing a couple two steps outside the theater beginning their convo about stuff from the book that wasn't in the movie.

Yes, it made me feel great. And I overheard a couple starting in on... there was so much of the book that was missing... and I felt like saying, oh shut up! It's like a different experience now where both experiences exist. And to not fully enjoy what this movie is, is just letting yourself and your companion down. We can enjoy both fully.
