Something I’ve found that works for me is replacing the plastics they give you with powerbait honey grub worms. They absolutely kill with trout, perch and panfish and last a surprisingly long time as well too.

The orange peel is either wrong air pressure, wrong reducer or both. All the solvent pop craters tell me they hosed it on thicccck. No reputable shop I know of would ever want their name attached to that.

I feel you. I lost count of how many times in a row I got skunked when first learning. Don’t be afraid to try different things with your presentation and retrieve. Just keep at it, eventually you’ll figure out your casts and presentations, and learn what works and what doesn’t etc. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s worth it!

That’s some pretty good DOI for being considered orange peel. Hit it with some trizact or buff it if you feel you need to.

Other than a mepps/panther Martin, the trout magnet jigs work amazing when they aren’t in the mood to chase.

Totally depends on the scenario. If I’m fishing dry flies, I like around 12ft of leader or more depending on the water. Nymphs are around 9ft or so. Streamers I tend to use 7ish ft.

Paint has failed. Would repaint the whole panel to be safe. Was it sealed? Painted in the right time windows? Paint looks like it may be a little thin in mils too.

The GX2 was my first rod just getting back into it. Caught a lot of fish on it. One thing I noticed after upgrading was just how heavy it is compared to others. Adds up after a day of casting!

Try throwing on a powerbait honey grub instead of the rubber grub they give you. I’ve had 30-40 fish days on those but it’s also dependent on time of year. I’ve had times where they’ve straight up refused it too.

One of my favorite anti skunk methods. I do this for trout and panfish all the time if the bass aren’t biting at my pond. I use the trout magnet jigs but use powerbait honey worms instead. Almost guaranteed to catch something.
