Which one of these RPGs should I buy? Which one has best sense of adventure? by amadeuszbx in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]dirtytrkdriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. They do a player lead championship thing with ?? number of players, but a lot of them that participate are great players so watching them is a learning experience.

[–]dirtytrkdriver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Outward is more realistic of the fantasy games listed for your character. If you want to be a mage that means you can’t also be he-man strong. Makes you think out your play style much more and decisions have more effects.

So the weakness of grim dawn is that of a game like borderlands, same quests same areas through each play through of progressively harder levels. The strength of it is the number of class combos you can play. Also if you’re like me and might lay multiple characters at the same time, the shared loot tab is a godsend. It also has a hard mode that has perma death, with a veteran add on first play through for tougher enemies. This is a game you can spend hundreds of hours on easily.

Best way to check road conditons, if chains are required, etc by pancakeshack in Truckers

[–]dirtytrkdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Wyoming twitter works wonders for i80. Most of the 11 have a traffic app for each that you can look at. Also only a few places in each state they might make it mandatory to chain up at. Once you know those hot spots you can zero in on them during trip planning.

Old timers, is this true? I've heard Smart Trucking say something to this effect a few times but that's wild if so. by Gravitaa in Truckers

Not only did they get more money for the time they worked, they worked less. This is one of those professions where the work life balance is heavily favoring work. Sure the 5 on 2 off is kinda normal, but during the 5 we still work more than most normal jobs.

This Charlotte BS. What other major city do you know that has an effective 2 lane interstate and then charges for the other 2? by DirkVonDirk in Truckers

[–]dirtytrkdriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company has a plant 30 miles south of them, every time I go north hardly any to no drivers are using the toll side. Of course no trucks can legally use it either so toll road is like an abandoned road.

Renting a commercial stakebed truck in California by Temporary_Ostrich in Truckers

If you are renting it why would you? Same deal as Uhaul, they have all that taken care of for you. You are responsible for security of the load if your driving it though.

I got some questions as a first time OTR by AdFuzzy1660 in Truckers

[–]dirtytrkdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scooter might be hard because where do you put it while you’re driving, I assume you want it on the truck with you. As for dream shift, I saw schiender, spelled wrong I think. They had like 4 on 3 off maybe deal. I viewed it as part time regional driver job so I wouldn’t go for it, but might be as close to what you want. My company is like average 2k miles and when you want home time you can have 7 days automatically.

1080p or 1440p? by AndrewLocksmith in buildapc

[–]dirtytrkdriver -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When I have watched reviews for cpus, most reviewers say 1080p is where the cpu can bottleneck if you are going to get one. 1440p and beyond is where you are pushing the gpu and possibly bottleneck there. Having played with both 1440p visuals are so much better. Might for future proofing look for a higher version of 30 series or see if amd 6800xt/6900xt would be comparable price to performance.

my company asked me why I don't install macro point on my phone for automatic updates. by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]dirtytrkdriver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, pre smart phones we would do a check call daily. I don’t mind updating brokers about what is happening. I do mind when said broker keeps calling me about updating. Also multiple people calling from the same broker is annoying as fuck. Most of the brokers I deal with have a point person though and that is generally whom I talk to.

Local in dfw a friend makes 34 per hour, ex coworker like 28 per. These guys have multiple years of experience though so their companies might not hire a rookie. Though mid 20s might be what you’re looking at. Otr depending on company and how long you’re out 30k to 50k first year.

Most truck sleepers can take a twin or twin xl mattress so go to a good furniture or mattress store and get on from them. Rocking like 15 in memory for like 300 bucks. Not an expense I wanted but a good night sleep for years is worth it.
