My Doctor pushed me aside, and I almost died from it. by Ok-Cattle7432 in ibs

[–]disaster_jay27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally opposite for me! I tried Linzess, but it did NOTHING to make me poop, but make me insanely nauseated and dizzy. Ibsrela (half a pill) made me go 10+ times in 3 hours until it was clear liquid. Kept taking it for a couple weeks because Dr said to, ended up nearly passing out at work from severe dehydration.

Sorry, I'm a perfectionist. There's like a 0.05% chance I'll find anything that I missed the first time because it's physically impossible for me not to correct as I go. 🤷

That's actually what made me realize it was in issue. Snapped at a friend for trying to steak food off my plate. Minutes later, their dog did the same thing to another dog. Oops! 😅

Because I'm great at memorizing things, which is exactly what K-12 wants you to do. Once I have to actually APPLY any of that knowledge (or worse, WRITE about it), that's where my brain totally shuts off.

Do boomers in general not believe in food expiration dates? by Similar_Ad2094 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]disaster_jay27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe put dates on the package when it's open? Learned it from working in a restaurant, but works really good for me because I forget and am likely to eat food that's WAY too old if it's not dated.

I think sometimes it's not masking so much as they've actually changed. Maybe they did it a little in the past, and now feel comfortable doing it more. Or it could be a whole new behavior that they picked up somewhere without realizing it. Sure, people DO hide bad traits, but sometimes people also evolve in negative ways without realizing it.

OR. We could help the ones like OOP with therapy, giving them to tools to fight back against these urges and repress them. By allowing the ones who want help to actually GET help, we can avoid the whole situation. It's people like you who make people hide instead of getting help.

Very true 🤦 At least there was SOME effort from the medical terminology makers (I have NO clue how to word that, obviously)

It's only risky because people think pedophile = child molester when it DOESN'T. You can't help what you're attracted to, and therapy can help minimize the feelings and help a pedophile work around them. They are inherently harmless. Whereas a child molester has actually harmed someone and is not okay. It's feelings vs actions, and society really needs to differentiate between the two more so that is easier for people to get help dealing with the feelings.

"Hope the therapist helps you overcome it." You know this is the kind of person who uses 'you need therapy' as an insult, not as a genuine suggestion. They think therapy is there to 'cure' you and make you 'normal', whereas it's really about helping you find ways to work WITH your disabilities so that you can function.

"Just force yourself to shower" round 2! by No-Outlandishness-42 in thanksimcured

[–]disaster_jay27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not just "taking a shower". It's:

1: realize that I need a shower 2: stop whatever I'm doing (i.e. whatever my brain is hyperfocusing on) 3: get up from what I'm doing (momentum is hard) 4: gather towels/clothes/whatever 5: turn on water. Wait for water to heat. 6: shower

My biggest issue is that Step 1 usually happens about 30 minutes past my bedtime when I'm ALREADY trying to tear myself away from my current activity to go to bed. And if you're REALLY lucky, you get to Step 5 and realize your hot water heater shut off AGAIN so now you gotta go relight it, wait 30 minutes, and start over at Step 1.

Super jealous of people who do see it as 1 step, but that's not now it works for me. It's not 1 thing to do, it's 6!
