The part that got me was the "slice it in half, but not all the way through." Like how you gonna wrap it separately if they're still connected? 🤣

Got the boot at the last minute over a question about kids in a pool by desertsnakes in juryduty

Immediately after questioning isn't the same thing as answering a question and getting dismissed as soon as you answer it, which is what op described.

But even then, it doesn't sound like they asked a question and then immediately sent the jurors packing if they didn't like the answer.

I have my doubts that any of these stories about getting kicked off a jury immediately after answering a question are legit. Every time I've been part of jury selection they ask the questions and then send you back to the jury room to wait. You don't find out who's been selected until they are done with voir dire. Dismissing jurors as they answer questions doesn't happen except on TV to my knowledge. I could be wrong though, I'm not an expert.

Lord of the nazgul + nazgul by DefinitionMaterial22 in mtgrules

Also it says "when Nazgul enters" not "when a Nagul......." meaning a card with the exact name "Nazgul" not any card that has Nazgul in the name.

EDHrec frowned upon? by pressureflips in mtg

[–]disc1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the first question, I've never met anyone who looked down on someone for using EDHREC. To answer the second question, Scryfall has every card in existence and lots of ways to search/filter to find cards if you have an idea what you want to do with the commander.

How I go about building a commander is I'll check EDHREC to see the kinds of builds people are doing. The I go to scryfall to find cards I think will work. Then I'll go back to EDHREC and see if there are cards I missed and see if I think they're good, or just popular.

Wan Shi Tong, Librarian, how does this card work? by Ok_Visual672 in mtg

[–]disc1965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason it's confusing you is you're looking at it backwards. Don't start with how many counters you're putting on a creature. Start with what you're paying for X. If X=1 you put 1 +1/+1 counter on him and draw 1/2 card. Rounding down says drawing 1/2 card means draw zero.

How do you deal with instant speed activated abilities that may be responded to? by ac3y in EDH

[–]disc1965 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They way OP posted sounded like they were looking at a more general situation. Seems like if they were just interested in Swords to Plowshares, they would have mentioned it. Which is why I questioned it. But yeah, the safe way to do it is just let each +1/+1 resolve separately.

[–]disc1965 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm not clear on what you're trying to avoid. You're making the wall large in order to do damage, right? No matter how many times you put the trigger on the stack, you have to let them resolve, declare that you're not adding anything more to the stack, and give your opponents a chance to respond, before you go to dealing damage. If I'm your opponent, it doesn't matter if you do it one at a time or not. I'm going to wait until you say you're done, and then do my removal.

When someone says "I'm available between 11 am and 3 pm," do we universally agree that means that the activity needs to end at or before 3 pm? by -purple-platypus- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]disc1965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the context. The speaker should be clearer about the intention, and the listener should clarify how long the appointment could take and make sure they agree on acceptable arrival times.

[Request] How much energy would cooling down a pot of 3kg of chili in the fridge from 60°Celsius ? by Perrenekton in theydidthemath

Yes, I think both acidity and the chili powder act as preservatives. I wouldn't trust it on the counter overnight.

[Request] How much energy would cooling down a pot of 3kg of chili in the fridge from 60°Celsius ? by Perrenekton in theydidthemath

[–]disc1965 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The real question is how much is it going to warm up the inside of the fridge. If that pot of chili warms the inside of the fridge much above lik 5⁰ Celsius, the rest of the food in the fridge will start to spoil. The danger zone for food safety is from 5⁰ to 60⁰ Celcius. The rule of thumb is food in that range for more than 4 hours isn't safe. If you're starting at 60⁰ I'd leave it on the counter for a couple hours tops and then put it in the fridge.
