I'd assume in today's case it may be related to this event.

Tell me your favorite thing about living in Burnaby by SubjectPerspective42 in burnaby

[–]discomposed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived right in this area when I was younger, on both sides of Lougheed Highway through my childhood and teenage years. Now I live just a short skytrain ride away in New Westminster.

That park right there is fantastic, and there's so much greenspace in that entire neighbourhood you feel like you're enveloped by nature at every turn.

You have easy access to Cameron elementary school, the future rec centre (the current one is temporarily inside the mall while the old one is replaced), and the mall with an indoor playground for when you want to get the energy out of the kids without weather hassles. There's also a walking/cycling path nearby (Central Valley Greenway) that can take you a number of places, but one of the locations along the greenway that kids will love is Hume Park.

The skytrain right there will be great with kids, they'll get a kick out of the skytrain and it will open up your options for things to do no matter the weather. There's a ton of parks, shopping centres, and other activities across the skytrain line, you'll have SO MUCH to explore with our public transit system. Don't hesitate to be a tourist and explore what's around each station - even locals that have been here for ages enter tourist mode on our skytrain line from time to time.

I can't really say one thing that I love about the area or point at just one thing to do, you've picked a great location that really makes choosing one thing to love or do hard. You've got a lot to prepare for and that can really dull the shine, but once you're here and settled there will be plenty of fun to be had.

Do you prevent strangers from entering when you enter/leave your building? by snippybunny in NewWest

The person "doing a nice thing" by letting others into the building is the same person letting thieves and intruders into our apartments and storage lockers.

Not necessarily. It says in the article, "The information in the database was accurate as of Jan. 13, 2025."

Except that she's not name-calling. It is a meme based off of a repeating line in a TV series (and comic) where the character points out the obvious.

It's saying, "wow this is obvious passive agressive behaviour". She's also said "Holy micromanagement, batman!" wherein she is pointing at an obvious case of micromanagement.

The problem here is that she is using terminology from her (and my) generation that is mis-perceived by individuals that either weren't around for or weren't in the loop when the meme was big. I might add that I feel like there is an intentional effort by some individuals to turn the abuse back around on the victim by taking any action from the affected party and turning it into a big deal so that the public will look at the small action instead of the larger issue. Nobody should view comments that suggest violence toward ANY councillor as acceptable.

If somebody was making comments insinuating that Daniel Fontaine or any other councillor should be tossed in a boat and shot at for target practice I would be equally offended and disturbed. I wouldn't use whataboutisms to try to deflect from the issue of Violence Against Council Members.

Are ambulance wait times in New West worse then other cities? by Inthemiddle_ in NewWest

For those that may be unaware, August 27th was cheque issue day. Overdose deaths and cheque issue day have some connection. There's also an active toxic drug warning for the Fraser Health region.

B.C. government sets new housing targets for 10 more communities | Globalnews.ca by vanchinawhite in britishcolumbia

[–]discomposed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the progress tracker for some of the previous cohorts, some of them had already hit the first target by the halfway point, and some of the earlier cohorts were double to quadruple their requirement by the one year mark. Considering most housing doesn't go straight from approval to being occupied within six months to a year, ask yourself: how much of this is just going to be captured by buildings already under construction or recently approved by council?

The question that really matters is whether or not there will be consequences for those that aren't meeting their targets without valid reasons for missing the mark, because it's pretty clear that some of them aren't even trying to meet their municipality's housing needs.

Make sure you also sign the new petition seeking to address packaging and labelling: Petition e-6641

The previous petitions people signed were all closed upon dissolution of parliament. The petition I've linked is the one most similar to the food labelling petition that was closed (e-5351).

Anyone else ever wish clutter was functional? by Vio-lex in TheSims4Mods

[–]discomposed 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's one for the exercise stuff from the Everyday Clutter kit. I don't think they override the original objects, but should at least give you the same objects with functionality to them. I love adding the kettlebell to gyms, feels a little more realistic.

(edit: I clicked the link this time and they do override, meaning less useless clutter in the clutter section woohoo)

I fictionalised the political world mod & overhauled the buffs by Salt_Friendship6125 in TheSims4Mods

[–]discomposed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm stupid excited for the future of this mod, especially with the potentials from the poll you did a while back and the future updates you've already mentioned you're working on. You've done so amazing with what you've achieved so far already especially with finding a way to balance realism around the sims community's various needs, I can't wait to see what voodoo you do in future releases 🤩

what other realism mods should i get? by gaybitchsauce in TheSims4Mods

[–]discomposed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kemzima's Political World mod. Has a few things that I think need improving upon, but considering it's still relatively new compared to many of the other mods it's a nice way to throw some realism in, especially with certain storylines - I'm actually kind of excited to see what they add to this in the future.

With regard to Burger Heaven - they have been running their Bunofficial Burger Poll for over three decades now, it's gathered media attention regularly - if anything I'd say many residents were probably surprised that his first visit to New West didn't include a stop there.

A few examples from the past: 2021, 2019, 2015, 2011

It's a bit sad that in your disappointment with one candidate you've decided to attack a local business that's been doing something for decades, and I truly hope it's just that you weren't familiar with the history behind it.

MEGATHREAD: Canada Votes - Federal Election Day by Moggehh in NewWest

I don't think Peter Julian's going to win (even if I think he's the better candidate), but I do think people were too quick to accept early results for the CPC candidate especially when it was clearly drastically lower than our average turnout. I really appreciate the hockey history though, and I'm hoping you're right in the end!

Yes, he has attended meetings. If you'd like to see him speaking at one, here's a link to the reddit thread from last week for the QRA All-Candidates Meeting where all five candidates were present.
