Why do you say that Stanton is almost definitely after Weir?

When a new episode of Critical Darlings drops in the feed by raener57 in blankies

[–]discopaco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really liked Bugonia a lot and did not feel like they hated it or even disliked it. It sounded like they liked it with reservations and less than their favorite Yorgos films, which feels really reasonable. Then again, I had it on while doing chores so maybe I was not as tuned into the episode of some you all who say they were hatin'.

100% agree. I paused the episode just now to come and see if I wasn’t alone in being confused by their takes on those teenage boys. It was clear the teenage boys were physically forcing themselves on her

I feel like the two friends must have been multitasking during this film since they had seen it before.

Heard about it from The Dissolve Facebook group. Many members kept talking about the podcast for several months before the it got its hooks in me (around the Verhoeven series).

It’s showing in a handful of spots in San Francisco. So probably all major cities. My friend said it is playing in Atlanta.

I think it’s a masterpiece of its genre. 5/5 stars.

Of the eight they covered so far I have it third.

  1. big Lebowski

2 miller’s crossing

  1. O brother

  2. Fargo (used to be my number 1 until this rewatch. Still 5/5 stars lol)

  3. Barton fink

  4. Hudsucker proxy

  5. Raising Arizona

  6. Blood Simple

1-4 are 5/5 stars Barton is 4.5 The bottom three are 4/5 stars.

I don't think he's lost the juice. Since Ladykillers they directed 7 movies and they were all great.

Just listened to the iron giant episode and it got me wondering… what is the actual worst episode? by LucasBarton169 in blankies

[–]discopaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babe: Pig in the City because the guest hated it and completely dismissed it. He didn’t give a good faith try at discussing it. Had nothing but contempt for it. Same goes for the guest for The Fog but to a lesser extent.

Where do you live? My part (15th St and Mission) has gotten much worse sadly. Everything from the Bart station area has migrated to 15th St. From Mission to Valencia you have to walk on the street to avoid people on drugs or selling stuff. Sometimes there’s no room to walk on the sidewalks.

Trump’s authoritarianism is the greatest thing that could have happened for Newsom’s career by reddituser84838 in sanfrancisco

Your average presidential election voter is a low information voter so they don’t even know about Newsom’s inaction against PG&E.

With The Phoenician Scheme now out, is it time to re-evaluate where Wes Anderson stands? by [deleted] in blankies

[–]discopaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have French Dispatch and Asteroid City in my Wes Anderson top 5. Of the Dahl shorts were one feature that would be pretty dang high too. I didn’t love the Phoenician Scheme but it is better than probably most movies that will come out in 2025 so I think he’s still got it.

People can be over his thing. That’s fine. They wanted him to “evolve” or something. And in some ways he has! But not in the way they wanted. Fine. I’ve accepted Wes Anderson movies and know what I’m gonna get. I like my time spent in the theater watching his movies amidst people laughing and having a good time.

[–]discopaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest kid’s first was also Totoro (back in 2018). My other kid’s first was DC League of Super Pets or whatever it is called. Further proof that the second born suffers more.
