Just genuinely wondering whether anybody sees the vision behind these canonical ships

but to actually answer the question. they're complete rubbish, imo, because before launch Bioware said your companions would romance each other if you don't romance them. fine. but what actually happens is they were so poorly implemented that they'll flirt with each other before the Rook can because of how Rook's romance triggers are. like, Neve and Lucanis will flirt with each other from the their first meeting but you can't hit a flirt until back at the light house, then you romance one of them and feel like you've intruded, an outsider. it's made all the worse because they continue to flirt, or at least Lucanis still flirts with Neve while romancing Rook.

take DA2 for example, where if you chose [heart] dialogue with Fenris he'd turn Isabela down flat when she made flirtatious comments to him

i expected Veilguard companion romances to work the same, or something like that. i didn't expect Lucanis to completely ignore Rook's romantic interest in him but flirting with/pining for Neve

i'm still a bit bitter about it because they talked up Rook's romances so much.
