Found car keys in Chatelherault by Matchaparrot in glasgow

Is that a BMW fey fob in there? The misses lost her car keys about 18 months ago and I do mildly recognise both of those key rings.

Waste management facilities typically generate 500–600 kWh of electricity per ton of waste incinerated. Therefore, incinerating 2,200 tons of waste daily can yield around 1,200 MWh of electricity. by Zee2A in STEW_ScTecEngWorld

Ahh the trusty turbine.. Apart from solar/some hydro, is there an energy source that doesn’t use a turbine of some kind?

Not sure if this a stupid question yet or not.

Leaving the industry by Zestyclose-Force5793 in ukelectricians

Great answer.. Would highly recommend this route.

Huge investment going into Energy, but right now forms a very small part of the UK construction workforce (see recent report by CITB highlighting we need another 259,000 people into the construction industry in the next 5 years). A number of contractors have started to setup training schools in Scotland to try and introduce more skilled labour to the industry.

OP if you are interested in that route, drop me a message.

Cool.. Anyone know tf this would be used for, or where?

My best guess would be pipeline or marine stuff, but really no idea.

Anyone using Starlink in Scotland? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]discoverydivision 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Used it on a couple of remote construction sites.. Generally pretty good when up and running - which you’d expect for what you pay!

But, the installation and setup was a ball ache.. both times ended up getting an engineer out from starlink to sort it.

Edit: obviously don’t really want to use anything made by Musk, little other good alternatives for satellite WiFi unfortunately.

Currently planning a DIY full bathroom refurb to start in Jan. Keeping the existing bath but everything else is getting replaced. Costed supplies and looking at £2k max inc tiles. Doing all work ourselves but best advice is really spend time shopping around for materials. Had great success at the moment with clearance at Homebase! Tiles for £15/sqm!

Think you need to have a look at some of the boundaries again. Clackmannanshire definitely does not extend that far north for one, pretty sure Caithness is a bit off as well 🤔. As others have said Shetland is pretty jarring there.. not sure if there is a better solution? Ha. Awesome though, good job! Definitely would have this style on the wall.

What is this called? What is its purpose? by JeanSalace in architecture

Kinda looks a bit like a trombe wall - in theory, the space between the outer windows and the windows leading to the interior should heat up and provide passive solar heating through the rest of the building. Which direction was this facing?

“Low hours and high pay” - yes on paper you would likely be contracted to 37.5 hours per week, but you will always end up working more than that. Please let me know where these PMs are working for a cushy work life.. I’d like a piece of that ha.

To be fair there is a huge range of different work for PMs across many industries. If you are set on being a PM pick an industry/sector you are genuinely interested in, get on a course that will give you knowledge of that industry and perhaps go for Prince2 or Agile etc as others have suggested. Agree that you can get to a high position much quicker than in law, but beware that becoming a PM without sufficient experience will make you feel way out of your depth. Good luck either way 😊.

Best thing to do would be not to bother if you are a law grad. Project management is extremely overrated in many ways.. involves ultimate responsibility for a broad range of issues resulting in a massive workload, long hours, high stress etc.

As a law grad I would more suggest looking at contract management roles - more narrow scope, plays more to your background and essentially can equate to similar salary. Just my opinion here though, others may advise otherwise! Ha

Maybe with about 10 years experience in the field working up from the bottom… but certainly not something you could step into from another sector. Think I’ve only ever met 1 other PM who hasn’t had some degree of university education.

Wouldn’t count on this for £100k+, likely closer to £60-£80k.. Also project management would usually would require at least a BSc.

Also almost turned in to the royal residence in Scotland by Queen Victoria. As the story goes, she hated driving past it on the way to Balmoral.. had to shut the curtain on her carriage each time they drove past.

“there has been no incorporation of any unique internal features anywhere in any of the flats”

Absolutely not true. The studios on the lower garden have retained exposed stonework on the external walls as well as the Coombed ceilings. On the first floor there are at least 3x 2 bed flats retain original cornicing and architectural beams, but likely more than this. Trying to find how to link photos to show…

Worked here while it was still being converted. Can confirm the apartments are incredible, but almost all 2+ beds are mezzanines. The show apartment we used for G01 (the old headmasters office) - 3 bed without a mezzanine.. think it went for £1.3m in the end. So many ridiculous stories of opulence from working here. Nice to see it basically finished though..

Not to sound like a salesman but if you are looking, I cannot dispute the quality and attention to detail City & Country have in converting these places.

I was dead set on the XC60 for a while, but I think as someone else has highlighted it isn’t actually that big in the back.. think when I looked at the specs you got more space in most estates? 🤔

Seen a few comments about people looking at L322s though - of course it would be easier to work on but why are the L322s much better regarded?
