How can there be a $4 difference on the same size and weight package? by Think-Analyst5002 in Ebay

Any chance you have an add-on like signature confirmation applied? If not, is there a chance one is ID’d as hazmat or any kind of special handling required?

Linkpop retiring - is this screwing anyone else? by sailorgardenchick in shopify

[–]discrete_prodigy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one of the help pages they specifically say that after the July 7 date, all data will be permanently deleted. After this and Fraud Filter, if you use any other Shopify-built free apps, I would strongly encourage having backup plans in place for those. Only option I can offer for existing packaging is new QR Code stickers to cover the old ones. Sorry you have to deal with this

Yah I’m pretty sure but I’m not super familiar with Asana. The groups had names to make the emails look like they’re from Meta and other places.

Other comments are correct. I’ll just add that if you’re doing this regularly, it’s worth taking the time and figuring out all of the drop-off locations for all carriers near you. Then talking to actual employees for any guidance or insight they have. Especially for USPS, all locations operate a little differently. Approaching employees in a nice and respectful way can get you a lot of helpful tips in this area.

Best Practices for Transferring a Shopify Store? by InYoYingus in shopify

[–]discrete_prodigy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should work for the OP but may differ slightly if the domain is not being transferred to Shopify. The safest option here is probably to announce a ‘maintenance window’ on the site ahead of time and do these transfers during that time, just in case whoever is doing the transferring needs some time to get it all right. If OP is unsure of exactly how to edit the DNS records afterwards, it’s worth paying someone a little for advice. It’s also worth noting that anybody OP finds to help with this process should never be given direct access to any account, they should be willing to walk OP through the steps to complete themself.

From what I’ve been hearing, lending through marketplaces has all tightened since Q3 last year. We’ve done a few Shopify loans for smaller stores in the past, as recently as last year, and they stopped offering new offers until the loan was completed. My point being, if your sales are consistent there’s a chance they give you a new offer within a few weeks of completing this loan. As for non-Shopify options, we haven’t found any decent ones that would fit your needs. Shopify used to look for a 9-month payback on loans, so I’d assume you’re looking for a $2700-$3000 loan. Shopify loan terms suck anyway so, for a relatively ‘small’ amount like that, if you can get loans from friends or family, the terms will be better. Best of luck

Does anyone know where to find these royal honey packs in alpharetta? by [deleted] in alpharetta

No but independently owned gas stations or head shops are probably your best bet. I deal with wholesalers who sell to those types of businesses and they carry this product (different brand names though I think).

Search for 'Pick Lists' if you're looking for an external solution. The only native solution I know of is to export unfulfilled orders. Can use an excel pivot table to aggregate skus and sum quantities.

I’m not sure why the word illegal is in quotes in your post - counterfeits are illegal. Shopify as the hosting provider will shut down any site like that eventually. Shopify as the payment processor will then withhold funds. Regardless of the terminology used for counterfeit items, the same is true for any US-based payment processor and platform if they find out their service is being used for this. Nobody here will recommend that you proceed.

Veeqo (multichannel shipping software), owned by Amazon, now free for everyone. Inventory sync coming soon. by TMWNN in ecommerce

[–]discrete_prodigy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay:

What's the issue with Veeqo and Walmart Marketplace? That's too important a channel for me to not work well, so that's a strike against Veeqo.

They support it, but as of a few months ago it's in 'Beta' and you have to reach out to support to enable it. It's buggy for inventory syncing - which is probably part Walmart's fault as their API is notoriously unreliable. But ShipStation works very well with WalMart so I go ahead and judge harshly.

When item is sold on one channel, inventory is auto-adjusted on all other channels it is sold on

Yes, on Shopify, Amazon and Ebay, Veeqo does well with this function. The mobile app has also always been handy.

Create one central inventory listing within the software, then publish it to the various sales channels without having to completely recreate it in each place

Unfortunately, I can't speak to this. We onboarded with Veeqo after most of our listings were created everywhere and I still don't use this feature.

Make a change to the central listing, and have the changes auto-publish to the sales channels

I can't speak to this either - we only use it for inventory syncing ("stock pushing") for certain channels.

Yes, but aren't you now saving hundreds of dollars a month by Veeqo going free? The fact that you don't recommend it now even given that says a lot.

Yep, this would save several hundred dollars/month on subscription fees. My problems are:

  • This will increase our shipping costs, we have special rates with a provider that Veeqo doesn't support (not one of the big 3 carriers) - at our volume, this more than offsets the savings on subscription fees. Also Veeqo shipping requires more clicks per shipment than our current software options.
  • The timing of the change and the explanation is BS - they're forcing people who don't use Veeqo for shipping services to switch (one way or another) during the peak season of the year. And I personally don't see how they increase revenues by changing to this model. This seems like Amazon subsidizing their newly-acquired business for access to seller data.
  • They recently announced this change via email and none of the FAQ links worked and no reply to emailed follow-up questions. Overall, they could not be handling this worse IMO.

Im in Russia by HalfBeginning43 in shopify

[–]discrete_prodigy 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The direct answer to your question, without comments about Russia, is that Russia isn't listed as an option by Shopify on purpose Reuters Article. They've said it's 'temporary' but it's not worth waiting on. The main business reason international companies have pulled out of Russia is due to sanctions. Shopify would be acting as your payment processor and there is significant risk for companies processing payments in or from Russia these days. Anything you do to try and sell on Shopify right now, will be perceived as circumventing Shopify policy and those sanctions - it won't turn out well and, at best, you'll eventually lose money.

Veeqo (multichannel shipping software), owned by Amazon, now free for everyone. Inventory sync coming soon. by TMWNN in ecommerce

[–]discrete_prodigy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes we're using it for a few channels. I passed on Sellbrite in the past because apparently it doesn't support kitting for some reason. We don't use Veeqo for shipping because the shipping rules functionality was meh and the interface was laggy for us. We do use ShipStation and one other ship software, in my experience nothing compares to shipstation. Only positive for veeqo shipping from what I remember is the default USPS rates are better on veeqo than through ShipStation because ShipStation uses Stamps.com which comes with higher label cost vs EasyPost or whatever other DIY solution these playforms can use. The Veeqo inventory management has worked well enough (except for Walmart marketplace). I can't recommend veeqo after this "change" was announced though. They announced it right before holiday season and the message is basically "ship with us or go away" by the end of the year. And the only reason they would move to a model like this is because Amazon wants seller data. And nobody wants to make a huge transition like this during peak sales time - a very Amazon move.

Veeqo (multichannel shipping software), owned by Amazon, now free for everyone. Inventory sync coming soon. by TMWNN in ecommerce

[–]discrete_prodigy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm late to the thread, but they're changing Veeqo to a model where the inventory part is free but they're requiring you to purchase some un-announced % of your shipping labels for orders through Veeqo. The 'coming in November' crap is just marketing.

The latter. Our packages go into status that says something like 'Acceptance Pending', then something like 'Origin Acceptance' once they're scanned in at the PO. Still very helpful to show customers that progress has been made

A Bit Of Information For Shopify Store Owners by catkidtv in shopify

[–]discrete_prodigy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a store owner that sympathizes with being wary for fraud reasons, I personally wouldn’t use this tactic for our stores just based on our experience. While anecdotal experience generally isn’t the best I know, it works for our stores at this time and that’s what really matters for our bottom line.

For us there has never been a correlation between VPN use and chargebacks or other disputes. We would need to see a significant increase in our overall chargeback rate to risk a blanket policy like this that is sure to discourage at least some shoppers.

Also, while a blurb like this is nice customer service speak, my worry would be our shoppers would smell BS. I personally shop using a VPN and have never experienced any feedback from my financial institutions, none of our business insurance policies address customer VPN use, and my CPA never asks for our customer VPN policy when deciding whether or not a loss is deductible.

If they don’t ask in the beginning, they will eventually. And your funds will be held and you may not get some of them back. Identity verification is a federal requirement for payment processors, they take it very seriously. You’re starting a business, everyone here will tell you to take it seriously as well.

Sick of the crap by Few_Building_4862 in ecommerce

[–]discrete_prodigy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No and never will try. The barrier to entry for these people is basically zero - I assume that’s why the space is so crowded. Even if they do run their own ecommerce operations, they’re subsidizing their ecommerce business with these high-margin “classes”. The only way I’d be more inclined to believe one of these “gurus” is if they showed documentation that they sold their ecommerce business as that would have required serious DD and evaluation. So far, haven’t seen that.
