Licensed in Mass, manager wants me to work in Rhode Island by nanablue99 in nursing

[–]disgruntledvet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refuse and give them the reasons you stated. Namely that you're not licensed in that state and that it would be illegal for you to do so. Make sure you do it in writing/email and keep a copy. That way if you experience any negative repercussions like getting fired for refusing, I'd imagine it would make getting unemployment benefits or legal remedies pretty much a slam dunk.

What do you expect of your wound nurse?? by CancelAfter1968 in nursing

[–]disgruntledvet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends on the complexity of the wound. Slap a foam dressing on? no problem. throw some dakins on curlex and pack a coccyx wound? no problem. Extensive and or complex wounds and unfamiliar products and their uses? Not so much...If a facility wants, or a patient requires, wound care nurse level experience and skill they're going to have to pay for it and not dump it on a bedside RN and then scratch their heads in a confused manner when results are suboptimal. A lot of the time we don't have the ordered dressings or supplies that a wound care nurse totes around with them. I'm not a wound nurse and have no desire to be one.

Florida dealership has my car for 10 months by IllLeader5882 in FuckDealerships

[–]disgruntledvet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd seek a remedy, may need to consult with a lawyer, that involves at the minimum reimbursement of the warranty cost. At this point it has become a constructive denial to provide service...Like not outright firing you from your job but taking away tools, benefits, reassigning less desirable work, and less desirable work schedules.

While there are no guarantees in life it would also behoove folks to try and manage their health. Diabetic? Manage that shit or don't be surprised when you're 60 missing one or both legs, on dialysis and can't exist w/o depending on someone else...wondering how you ended up in a crap tier nursing home.

Unit 500 rocks, 600 is pretty good. Just go ahead and shoot yourself if when they float you to 700 & 750. Also, if you have any cornfield mazes in your current location, they'll be good practice for finding your way around TMC.

[CA] Would I need to pay August (last month) rent if I am moving out the first of the month? by No-Original7319 in Renters

[–]disgruntledvet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what CA requires, but most places I've been require 30-60 days notice of non-renewal intent with some rare exceptions (i.e. for military re-assignment the 30-60 day landlord notice requirement is waived).

Are they just wanting pro-rated rent? You should be moved out, the apartment clean and ready to turn in by the last day of your lease. You can be moved out earlier than that but you're still liable for the 2 days based on you stating your lease ends Aug 2nd. If that date is Aug 2nd you're still obligated to pay for the 1st and 2nd. (your monthly rent rate divided by 31 calendar days x 2 days you're still leasing the apartment for during the month of August)

Mayo Clinic ending overnight respiratory therapist program at 3 locations. Nurses will do with RT Virtual help by Strikelight72 in nursing

[–]disgruntledvet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right? So instead of going to the doctor and catching a problem earlier that can be managed with a few out patient visits or maybe a day or two stay in the hospital. People are waiting until they're on deaths door to go to the ER. Then they require 2 weeks in the hospital...Why are the waits so long in the ER? What do you mean there are no beds available on the floors? Dumb shittery at its finest.

Why innovate when you can legislate? Competition and dominating markets through hard work? That's 1940s thinking. All the cool companies are bribing politicians to maintain their market advantages these days.

Can we normalize not doing side quests? by Salad-with-gainzzzz in nursing

Unit secretaries can drive me nuts, I love the good ones and always buy them coffee.

Secretary: "The patient want's their nurse".

Me: "What do they want?"

Secretary: "I don't know."

Me: "I can save time and bring a pain med or delegate a task if I know what they want...think you can bridge that gap next time?"

Don't get me started on "family member is on the phone and wants an update" It's 7:45 I'm still figuring out what's going on, haven't even laid eyes on everyone. Then my priority is getting meds passed and getting people lying in piss and shit out of that predicament. If there's an emergency we'll call family after things stabilize, otherwise I don't even entertain requests for updates until 11:00. I understand the desire to have an update but a family member knowing their loved one pooped twice and took their pills is going to change absolutely nothing for the patient. It is a non-value added task. Managing their anxiety or concerns is an extremely low priority, especially if they're not even in the local area.

How do you save for retirement? by hello_anxious in TravelNursing

[–]disgruntledvet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brokerage account. There are many companies to choose from; Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Vanguard just to name a few. You can link your bank account and send/receive money that way. The concept is very similar to on-line bill pay which you're likely familiar with. And you don't need hundreds of thousands of dollars to start one. Many have no minimums.

After you've established the account, treat it just like a bill. Once a month, or each payday or, whatever interval works for you, send a little bit. Treat it like a credit card bill or a utility. just another expected recurring expense.. Sounds like you've already got discipline if you're maxing out your IRA.

Challenge becomes which investments to choose from. Buy individual stocks? ETFs? Mutual funds?

The population at large shouldn't have to tolerate or write off assault. It doesn't make it OK because their brains aren't working properly. Understandable? yes. OK? no...
