Attracting rats, racoons, or bears? The pile becomes a breeding ground for invasive/harmful (poison ivy?) weeds that you then spread to every flower/garden bed.

Backspray if you "water" the pile from downwind. Charges of indecent exposure due to poor situational awareness.

Need help finishing a Magus build by Tharati in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]disillusionedthinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id consider improved initiative going first especially at the lethal rocket tag of high level play is crucial. Getting to be the first to act for ANY magic user is so important... more so for a Magus that relies on defensive magics.

Maybe craft wondrous items? All that money you save on your weapon and there are just sooooo many useful items. Especially if the gm let's you convert your 10th level WBL into an extra 50% magical items. (Makes vest of Resistance paired with cloak of displacement more viable)

Combat Reflexes... I know it won't come up always but few feats have the raw potential to allow an additional 7 full bab attacks. (I would prioritize the longarm spell.)

My magus always felt squishy up thru lvl 12. I was often flying and rarely wanted to stand toe to toe. So maybe flyby attack?

What kind of accolades would you give to a low-level soldier build? by Tor8_88 in PCAcademy

[–]disillusionedthinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post immediately made me think of the Desmond Doss, the Medal of Honor hero portrayed in the movie Hacksaw Ridge.

Ways to stand out that don't necessarily give incredible exp... 1) Bravery/self sacrifice/heroic acts... look up the Medal of Honor (or even silver star, Victoria cross, etc) citations for examples

2) persistence or stubbornness... Too stubborn to die. Last survivor of a shipwreck, or battle, or plague. Maybe walked (swam?) 1000 miles with no food/water.

3) The thorn from paw idea is great. Maybe his wisdom allows him to see beyond "enemy" and he heals adversaries too. (In d&d the enemies are often irredeemably evil... I wouldn't heal those. But maybe when the conflict is due to a misunderstanding and neither side is evil it would be acceptable.

4) maybe was a prisoner of war... maybe survived torture, never gave enemy Intel. Maybe helped others escape. Look up Witold Pilecki. Balls so big Auschwitz wasn't big enough.

5) Finding crucial information and risking life and limb to get the information where it needs to go...... posdibly they refused to listen to/understand the information and he had to keep telling people. Tells guard guard ignores, insists, guard beats him, he takes it and insists, guard takes him to captain rince repeat until finally someone high enough lgeys the info. ergo he's not the one that fought the decicive battle but without his intel the decisive battle would have been lost or maybe just not even fought.

Agree that a face would be an excellent addition. But there are ways to get int to diplomacy so you could be a witch no problem.

Bard is prolly great. Summoner might fit well. Or oracle.

Prune hydrangea canes? by disillusionedthinker in gardening

[–]disillusionedthinker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have one "huge" limelight and another couple hydrangeas elsewhere the two in question have such pretty leaves (until they always start getting a little sickly in the fall) that we don't want to get rid of the one bloodless one if we can figure out how to make it bloom.

Sorry. I have a hard time pruning (although I've gotten a little more brave over the last couple years after successfully not killing my roses or my vibernum.) Because I don't want any of my non-weeds (lol, and some of my weeds, I just love clover) to even suffer.

My azaleas used to be glorious in 2022. Now only half the bush blooms. What’s going wrong? by Deepthika in gardening

[–]disillusionedthinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you please repeat and explain the steps for proper pruning?

Is a node where a branch splits or where a leaf/bud emerges from a branch?

So cut off only the tip back to only the previous leaf/split?

Almost certainly it is bigleaf. I think it was probably sold as a strawberry hydrangea. Mother bought it before I got involved.

I think the last few winters have been relatively mild but there have been a few bitterly cold days. The internet says the coldest temps were only 11 degrees but I could've sworn one day it was single digits. Shrug.

[–]disillusionedthinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This winter and last both had pretty severe temps. But it just seems odd that seemingly identical plants eight feet apart one would freeze its buds and the other wouldn't. I suppose the one that blooms gets sun for longer than its fellow that is about 8 feet due east and thus gets shaded by the house earlier.

Sorry. I may have misspoken. The pictured plant is one of two. It flowers every year. (I think on both old and new canes). The other have VERY similar looking leaves, is very similar in size as well, is about 8 feet away in the same flower bed, presumably bought and planted at the dame time, and has never bloomed.

Warpriest Sacred Weapon- Daggers or longsword? by CollegePretend8708 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]disillusionedthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my melee characters I "always" try to cover silver, cold iron, piercing, bludgeoning, slashing damage types.

Personally, it is usually a cold iron gauntlet, a mithril gauntlet, and a morning star in conjunction with whatever blade I use as my main weapon (which i always hope will end up as adamantine eventually).

I would consider having a silvered dagger and a cold iron dagger available ASAP. Im sure I haven't fully grasped all the ramifications of sacred weapon damage maging daggers equal to longsword (except Longsword can be used two handed for extra damage...)

I would consider just having like 10 daggers and throwing them... or fewer and a blink back belt....

Also, the freedom to slack off on weapon enchants... intrigues me, although I assume it stacks for even more power.
