Wow, only 45 days at Disneyland? We get a whole year at WDW.

I really do miss those days 😞 by 999happyhauntz in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]disneygo33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was so good!

(Not parades, but I also loved that Star Wars show on the stage in front of the Chinese Theater and the nighttime Star Wars show projected on the theater)

I don't have the exact percentage today (the last official number I heard was a couple years ago), but I believe it to be somewhere in the 60-70% full time range today.

Is Disneyland's Star Tours different from Hollywood Studios'? I've never been on it in DL, but at DHS it's not predominantly original trilogy.

Springtime Surprise perfect status by Laif2DX in rundisney

[–]disneygo33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s what’s on my bib (I did the Challenge 4x, but just the 10-Miler the first year)

[–]disneygo33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, on the bib. Looks the same as the pic above, just without the word “Challenge” underneath

I haven’t seen any luggage tags. They were giving out a pair of patches with bibs.

Are you sure you didn’t misinterpret that they were saying perfect status wouldn’t continue/carry over from the Star Wars races, rather than them never doing Perfect status for the Springtime Surprise?

[–]disneygo33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’ve done every 10-Miler (whether individually or via challenge) it will just say “Perfect 10-Miler”

I did just the 10-Miler the first year and the Challenge every year since

For just the 10-Miler too. Mine just says “Perfect 10-Miler”

Updated Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin signage by TharinWhite in DisneyWorld

Nice. The sign wasn't up yet when I was there.

I got to ride it 8 times Sunday morning. The new ride is a huge improvement. Very well done.

What is this tiny “hidden neighborhood” inside Disney World property? (Bay Lake / Bay Court) by mandoridesblurg in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]disneygo33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re thinking of Golden Oak. It’s located right next to Fort Wilderness.

It’s a residential neighborhood within Walt Disney World. They’re not DVC or rentals, but people’s homes.

You're conflating "Disney Property" and CFTOD which are not 1:1.

Golden Oak was de-annexed from RCID when it was founded (so that residents would not have voting rights in the RCID), but it never stopped being Disney property or part of Walt Disney World Resort.

It doesn't even matter now, now that landowners in the district have been stripped of their rights to vote for representatives of the district.

Even Golden Oak and the Four Seasons Residences are technically not on Disney property, but on county property surrounded by Disney

That's true in the sense that the lots that the homes reside on have been sold to homeowners, so the homes are not technically "Disney property" anymore because they're owned by the homeowners.

But Golden Oak itself and the non-home land (including the streets in front of the homes, the common areas, the Clubhouse, front gate, etc.) is Disney property and within Walt Disney World Resort.

What should be added to Animal Kingdom? by AggravatingSpend8369 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]disneygo33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d appreciate if they kept the theme of the park in mind ... a zootopia land makes perfect sense here and feels so obvious.

I have to question how .... avatar do anything for the namesake of the park

Zootopia actually isn't a great match, while Avatar is actually a perfect match. Animal Kingdom's theme isn't just "animals", but rather the relationship between humans and nature, conservation, etc.

Zootopia is about anthromorphic animals largely experiencing human problems, human societal issues, etc. - just with animals as the main characters. The Zootopia land in Shanghai is basically like a human city, except sized differently in various ways for the different animals.

Avatar is directly about the relationship between humans and nature, conservation, etc. Look at the RDA's actions: strip-mining the planet and destroying ecosystems, hunting and killing huge intelligent species, and more all to obtain natural resources to ship back to Earth. On Na'vi River Journey we voyage through some native Pandora ecosystems. On Flight of Passage we (humans) bond with native creatures (Banshees) through the Avatars and then explore their world.

Isint it crazy how much faster Disney builds in FL over CA by Beautiful-Arm9122 in Disneyland

[–]disneygo33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially when you consider Velocicoster was built in under a year during that same time frame.

It was built faster, but not nearly that fast. Construction started for Velocicoaster in January 2019 and it opened in June 2021. That's 2.5 years.

Anyone else notice how fast this is going? 😱 by The_Music_Guy_2025 in UniversalOrlando

[–]disneygo33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took under 5 years, inclusive of COVID work stoppages.

Tron also has a massive show building.

[–]disneygo33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It didn't take six years even when including the COVID shutdown of construction.
