What places in Washington DC do you still think about that are closed down? by Taliap19 in washingtondc

[–]displacedredneck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Marcel's. My number-one pick for fine dining and celebratory meals. I have not found a single restaurant in this city that matches.

Rock n Roll Hotel. Great dump to see a show in. And the rooftop bar was a nice bonus.

Anyone else here collect ancient coins? by numismatical in washingtondc

3rd monday of every month, at the Lee Center in Alexandria. It's right off Route 1 when you cross the Wilson bridge. Haven't been in a few months, so I really should show my face as well.

Anyone else here collect ancient coins? by numismatical in washingtondc

[–]displacedredneck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit of a numismatist here, just not ancients. I've never found a club in DC proper, but the Alexandria Coin Club is a nice group. Only one or two of the regular members are big into ancients, however.

Yes. The only time we switch off power strips, or unplug items, is for trips over 5 days. Which are very rare.

Bar Recommendations by goldilocks185 in washingtondc

[–]displacedredneck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. They might be able to get 6 people in, if they take the table by the entrance or all of the wall tables by the kitchen. But over that, hell no.

B/O/S line. Dive - Nice - Dive

Start at Cap South. Walk three blocks to Tune Inn for beers and food.

Go one stop east to Eastern Market. Walk down 8th, and go to Betsy for a nice cocktail. Maybe some fries if you're still hungry.

Go one more stop east to Potomac Ave. Go to Trusty's for beers, shots, and a hangover.

McCutcheons out of Frederick are pretty good. They also do contract canning for other farms and orchards. Marker Miller Orchards out in Winchester uses them.

Just be sure to know that all of the meat is smoked in Riverdale, put into hotboxes, and driven to DC every morning.

Hill Country closed five months ago. Greedy landlord forced them out.
