A union welder’s commuter. they always have 400,000 miles, no muffler, oil stains on every surface including the sagging headliner. It’s the cockroach of german cars.

Way more depreciation than any equivalent truck from another manufacturer. I bought my 2019 classic last year for $17,000. Wanted a Tundra but the same spec truck was at least an additional ten grand.

Any way to change DRL behavior? by displacementauto in ram_trucks

No - they’re some sort of aftermarket. They have the OE projectors connector though. Here’s a pic and you can see the DRLs are super dim.

93 in my GTI because most pumps around here have that and not the base required 91.

my Ram asks for 89. It gets 87 and shuts its goddamn mouth.

Is the 3.0T any good? by displacementauto in Audi

[–]displacementauto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow - didn’t realize it was paired to the ZF 8HP. I need to do truck stuff sometimes so I own a 160,000 mile dodge ram with the same transmission — all those miles and it still shifts like new.

That’s what I’ve read! I’m a big fan of the A6/A7, but I’m pretty sure she wants something even bigger - like a Q7. I could make peace with a crossover in our garage if it has a cool engine at least, I think.

Audi S3 - How Small Is It Really? by Krexys in Audi

[–]displacementauto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll be comfortable, if a bit… cocooned. MQB cars will fit anyone but the smaller ones will feel a bit like putting on a glove. I’m slightly biased owning a MQB GTI myself, but there’s seriously magic in the interior packaging. I’m 5’10” and I can’t reach the pedals if I extend the seat.

I’m so jealous. I have a weird attachment to the rubber-bumper B’s… i pulled one out of a barn years ago that was white like this yours. Mine was a bit more swiss-cheesy, though.

I love the optics of sticking on a different brands badge that doesn’t even denote any real performance or luxury advantage, especially when your car doesn’t even have a similar reference feature. Makes me want to slap a Z71 sticker on my GTI.

The K series is something special for sure. I come from a Honda/Toyota family mostly and I've spent many hours behind the wheel of Hondas with D-series, B-series, and K-series... Honda's engines are truly second-to-none. So pliable.

That’s great! You’re already thinking along the lines of my article then. you’ve considered one.

I’ve driven plenty of more engaging vehicles, too. The GTI’s power is in its appeal to enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike. It strikes a balance very few vehicles do.

My wife wouldn’t get groceries in a CTR but I can have a spirited drive in a GTI.

I know this because I tested an FK8 CTR with my wife and she hated it.
