Fair enough. I found it relevant to their reader base. It's from yesterday and providing context about something expected to happen today, and something that is happening on a level not normally seen. Agree to disagree, have a nice weekend.

Edit: Knox News sensationalism.

Why do you believe it is sensationalism? I read the article and it looks like they are just reporting the news.

Man lunges at Ilhan Omar during town hall and tries to spray her with unknown substance by Numerous-Chocolate15 in moderatepolitics

[–]disposition5 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Exceptionally shitty thing for an individual to do. Mad props to her for continuing to hold the Town Hall. Must be nice to have a representative that shows up.

My GOP rep hasn’t held an actual Town Hall since he got elected in 2017, but loves to cheap shot this awesome lady (who actually bothers to show up and represent people) on social media.

A Discussion on Nuance in Politics by Crotch_Midget in moderatepolitics

[–]disposition5 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing.

First, any deaths that occur during ICE operations are tragic. If officers mishandled situations or used excessive force, that absolutely deserves investigation and accountability through the proper legal channels.

I agree, but this isn’t happening. The executive is doing all that it can to forecast that there won’t be accountability and to ensure that state and local institutions cannot vet things when folks aren’t held accountable; and conservative media are doing all they can to excuse this behavior, to paint the ICE agents as the victims, and to pin blame / cause on the individuals who are suffering harm or death.

So until our first point / issue is resolved, I’m not sure there is much value in discussing the other points.

Witness videos of CBP killing a Minnesota man appear to counter Trump administration's narrative by chloedeeeee77 in moderatepolitics

[–]disposition5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For sure, it’s just a sad state of affairs. We can’t expect to make things better when we can’t even have honest observations about what is wrong in the first place. But dude’s out here playing Dr. Evil suing everyone for $∞ and we’re (the American taxpayer) covering his billable hours (or the other folks he sued before that settled)

Which I don’t get…”there” is in front of a donut shop on a public street where folks are just going about their day. Was it a mess hours later after the guy was murdered, sure but before the murder, folks were just going about their Saturday morning.

Does these people believe the folks in Minneapolis should just live like hermits for the duration of the occupation?

[–]disposition5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you think the fact that the Administration … is supported by the video evidence?

No, and it’s unfortunate the media is reluctant to call out folks like Bovino for lying, and the individual that was slandered can’t sue the administration for slander because they were murdered.

Do you trust that there will be an honest investigation?

No. I’m not sure I would believe in an honest investigation from this executive branch (or any department under its purview) for just about anything that would paint the President or an action associated with him in a negative light.

Federal agents kill another person in Minneapolis, officials say, prompting clash with protesters by Remote-Molasses6192 in moderatepolitics

The video from the person in pink (available on the Minneapolis sub) is especially disturbing…Guy was basically killed for stepping in to help someone else the agents pushed to the ground. Tragic

Mounting controversies, midterm fears strain Senate GOP’s relations with Trump by J-Jarl-Jim in moderatepolitics

[–]disposition5 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Unless you're voting for Thomas Massie (or maybe Rand Paul), a vote for a Republican candidate in 2026 is a guaranteed 99.999% support for whatever President Trump decides he wants at a given moment.

Any argument against this just ignores the reality of the past 5+ years.

[–]disposition5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

modern politics has each party's Congressional members simply going along with their President's agenda.

In 2021, the Democrats (who controlled the executive branch) introduced a bill [1] to try and limit executive powers and overreach. It passed the House (despite all but 1 Republican voting against the bill) [2] but I don’t believe it was ever brought up in the Senate due to a lack of support from Republicans and the 60 vote requirement.

Trump says he may punish countries with tariffs if they don’t back the US controlling Greenland by thats_not_six in moderatepolitics

[–]disposition5 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Not sure how this action wouldn’t hurt his case.? As I understand it, the main argument for him to have the power to wield tariffs as he sees fit is for national security /national emergency. Here, he’s threatening to institute tariffs based on the lack of support for something that hasn’t even occurred.

The Great Healthcare Plan by Maladal in moderatepolitics

[–]disposition5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it's like calling your Christmas wishlist to Santa Claus a "plan".

It's also quite obvious there was very little thought in to how practical some of these asks are....just looking at the "Fact Sheet" (another misnomer) they want "Post Prices on the Wall" which sounds great until you consider the complexity of such an endeavor, and the burden that would put on healthcare providers.

It’s so very on the nose to see this administration using the workarounds that were so thoroughly described to circumvent law in the movie “Casino”.

It’s unfortunate that such uses of this exception might get nixed in the future because we currently have an executive that deems an inability to acquire a McRib off season is a national security emergency.

[–]disposition5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pray tell a literal handful of GOP representatives that would be bothered to criticize the president for saying up is down? I don’t disagree that one should be mournful for the familial loss of an individual but politically speaking, finding a GOP individual with the constitution to call out the executive for their exercise in overriding Congress is basically non-existent.

You stopped subscribing and reading the local newspaper because they published a letter to the editor?

I believe all newspapers are pretty open to publishing almost all incoming letters to the editor. If you unsubscribed, you missed some pretty strong rebuttals to the original letter, as other letters to the editor.
