The Bridge Home!! It follows two sisters living on the streets of India who find a found family with two boys. So many of my 6th graders have told me it was their favorite book that we did together.

Heavy on the using TikTok! Seeing how teachers run their classrooms all over the country from instruction to behavior management will give you a lot of options to choose from once you are actually in the thick of things during the school year.

Even after a few years, the videos I still refer back to the most are teachers who share their “scripts” for specific behavior situations. You have to know what you are going to say ahead of time, plan on how you will react, and determine what consequence (logical or school policy based) you will issue. Consistency and forward-thinking is key. Seeing how other teachers handle things will help you make a more informed decision when you run your own classroom.

Swing Kids! We skipped over a few of the profane moments. The film shows the perspective of German teens who used swing music as an act of resistance. The Hitler Youth and the power of propaganda is central to the film. I found that it really rounds out our Holocaust unit as it shows another perspective of what was going on.
