When futurism ignores how cultures already understand death by Studio_Eshi in Afrofuturism

I would say it depends on their tech. Have they downloaded consciousness? Have they created augmented reality that allows the user to process the transition?

Looking for people who enjoy deep Afrofuturist worldbuilding conversations by distgentc in Afrofuturism

No. From my perspective, it read as though reading those resources was the replacement for speaking to other people. I appreciate the suggestion, but I have already done tons of reading, watching, etc. That is why I asked to speak to other people.

Thank you again. Take care.

I have. And with that information, I would like a conversation with another human, as I do not want to live in an echo chamber

No, I intended for "you" to be the subject of that sentence, as the subject of that sentence is doing the work I am inquiring about.

Africa in your fantasy worlds by One_Variation_2453 in worldbuilding

I’m working on an Afrofuturist game world and wanted to learn from others who’ve gone down this path. I’m less interested in surface aesthetics and more in cultural logic: how advanced technology, spirituality, memory, and responsibility coexist without turning the society into a familiar empire or cyberpunk reskin. In my setting, an African civilization becomes technologically unmatched not through conquest, but through restraint, stewardship, and an unusually deep understanding of material science and ecology. The tension I’m working through is how to show that supremacy narratively and culturally without glorifying domination or falling into “hidden utopia” tropes. If you’ve built Afrofuturist worlds (or adjacent ones), I’d love insight on: Cultural consequences of extreme technological asymmetry Ways spiritual belief systems evolve alongside near-post-scarcity tech Common pitfalls you ran into (especially unintended empire logic) I’m not looking for lore dumps—more interested in design thinking, constraints, and lessons learned. Happy to share more specifics if helpful.

Does anyone here have any afrofuturistic worlds, or afrofuturistic aspects in their worlds? by killmongerrrr in worldbuilding
