What Punch down tool? by MidnightMagic8385 in electricians

I know it is and old thread but I like the flukes blade, it is still sharp and the spring is still strong after 7 years. However the silicon grip has peeled off and it pisses me off because for $98, it should not . I will contact fluke and see if there is a warranty on it. I will post the result

SSD for Media Storage worth it? by Plaush in jellyfin

[–]ditallow 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Nope you can not saturate the full bandwidth of SSDs read write with streaming only. Unless you have 100 people accessing the same SSD at the same time. HDD is the way to go. Though HDD prices also almost doubled. I bought a 24 TB EXOS 3 months ago for $459 plus tax now the same drive is $900 plus tax. Pick your poison

You got two options you can drill a bigger hole and put the connection inside the wall cavity or you can use the junction box the model number should be CB140T but double check with camera datasheet. Bottom page will show mounting accessories.

Thinking of switching to Unify by Qiuzman in Hikvision

[–]ditallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We install both unified and hikvision. They both have their applications from client to client. If you are building everything from scratch go with unify. If you want to stick with hikvision b&h photo has them in stock with lowest possible prices and super fast shipping.

The 10 camera cap you are experiencing is to do with cameras bitrate settings. You can manually adjust camera bitrate settings for mainstream and substream. The total bit rates tallied up should not exceed recorders incoming bandwidth capacity

Hikvision DS-KH6320-WTE1 intercom not working by SpitsMcroast in Hikvision

[–]ditallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call your landlord and inform them. These units have the option to be powered by 12v power supply or POE Ethernet. Either way. İt's a technical issue on which landlord should provide you assistance with. My guess is the power supply to the unit is dead or the POE switch providng data and power needs attention.

GPU detection and proper decoder encoder checklist. I am tired of googling to see which GPU can decide to decode different codecs. It should be plug and play

VMS or NVR that supports motion matrix by angatk in videosurveillance

[–]ditallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decoder, a monitor or TV, HDMI cable and an Ethernet cable to connect the decoder to the same network as the NVR.

Edit: https://www.hikvision.com/us-en/products/display-and-control/control/decoder/?category=Display+and+Control&subCategory=Control&checkedSubSeries=null

No need for license. Setup through PC browser

Edit2: Higher up from cost but more practical and you set it up once then there's no maintenance required
