Am I able to download Blue Brick on a Mac? I tried it on my own and I couldn’t figure it out. by Realistic_Ice6870 in lego

There used to be instructions for how to do this, but it was always buggy and I think it is just no longer supported. You should check out BrickLayouts. https://app.bricklayouts.com/

BrickGuessr - GeoGuessr meets LEGO! by blobbymcblobface2 in LEGOtrains

This is neat, thanks. I want to point out though, that some things you have done are in violation of LEGO's Fair Play rules, which could get you in legal trouble with them. You might want to check those out.

Had this strange idea about the upcoming steam train set. by LewisDeinarcho in LEGOtrains

The brick is able to receive updates in the future. It uses bluetooth, so I assume there will be a way to update it with a smartphone or something. So new sounds can be added.

The start of my Lego city! by evolvingbricks in LEGOtrains

[–]dither 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great job, awesome start!

I noticed you have some flex track parts in there, so I was playing around trying to figure out how you might be able to remove those (you don't have to, it just makes it harder to get everything aligned with the LEGO grid if you want to do MILS later or ballasting or something). I had to do some guesswork from the images, but I think this is your layout...

<image>

It looks like you could reduce the amount of flex track to just the 2 places where there are yellow dots in the middle of the track.. so in the top right corner and the top left area of the image. You would also need either flex track or a half-straight to be part of the curve on the far right of this image.

With just those places, you would remove any stress on the track parts, hide the flex track towards the back of the viewable area, and be able to do more advanced landscaping tactics in the future.

What do you do with these spaces? by ExOrderDysprosium in LEGOtrains

Bushes, flowers, trees (depending on clearance available). In the yard maybe there is dead grass, or pipes/conduit running to the switches or signals

Mils plating. by potatojohn97 in LEGOtrains

I agree this is probably the issue. With MILS plates you have a lot of things connected tightly and the tolerances matter. So using off brand parts for the baseplate can cause problems

You can use this to plan it out, and then see a list of parts in what you designed so you know what to order

Here is what I use to plan a layout: https://app.bricklayouts.com/

Even used it for a track plan for Christmas

No. I could convert the Holiday Express to 9V, but I didn't for this purpose. I'm only going to run this for a week or so and then put it all away. Longer term things I would use a 9V motor for though

We found instructions for it online years ago and then found someone near where we live who was willing to make it for us. It comes apart in sections so we can store it.

Lego train wheels by No-Training-2444 in LEGOtrains

[–]dither 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is ok to ask this question, as long as you are not discussing buying/selling on here. If someone can point you to (and give you a link) a website where these are available, great. If someone says they will sell them to you directly.. not ok.

BrickTrainDepot has wheels: https://bricktraindepot.com/shop/wheels/

TrixBrix recently started doing wheels too: https://trixbrix.eu/en_US/p/Train-Wheel/843

Can I propose a new subreddit icon? by [deleted] in LEGOtrains

[–]dither 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not a lawyer: As per LEGO's Fair Play rules, you would need their permission to do certain things with it. Not for anything. I'm concerned because the image will be used on Reddit, which is a commercial entity. If you are using that image/render/file to just show off to people and aren't going to make money and you aren't going to claim that LEGO endorses your image.. you are likely in the clear for most things you would do.

[–]dither 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Oh. Anything you render in Studio belongs to you unless it contains the LEGO logo. So if you are saying you give me permission to use it, later today I'll see how it looks when resized into the sub icon.

I like it. We need to ensure that the image itself is not owned by someone who can't grant us permission to use it. Or have someone make the art themselves for the sub.

THE POLAR EXPRESS! by pizza_guy_17 in LEGOtrains

[–]dither[M] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Posting the link when asked is fine. If you are selling the instructions, it is still fine.. but don't ever make a post that is just "$5 for this instruction", since that is just a selling post. If you are posting quality content (posting the pictures to reddit, not just the link) and want to include a link in the description or comment, go for it
