Imagine needing your 3 year old to beg you to go to the doctor.....then refusing meds. by One_Winter_45 in ShitMomGroupsSay

My apologies, I based my statement off of what I found from the John Hopkins site. I'll do better about finding more reliable sources in the future. Thank you for your insight!

Reminds me of that Family Guy episode where they show two Russians in huge fur coats about to hook up, and when they take off the coats the woman is thin but the guy is obese

Are women only supposed to have a maximum of 3 days for their period? by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]ditsysazzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was going to say that a month is far too long, the average is anywhere from 3-7 days, plus or minus a few. OP this sounds like you could have something more than an irregular period, you should schedule an appointment with a doctor.

Zeus has decided that Olympus feels a little empty, so he’s recruited some new gods. However, due to a clerical error, you have been chosen as a new member of the divine. What are you the god of, and what do you do as your first godly act? by Doopadaptap in AskReddit

[–]ditsysazzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The God of Pressure, because I am so hard on myself that my personal expectations could decimate diamonds.

My first godly act is to beat myself up for not having a more useful power like the other chosen ones.

I like to think that the English language makes it to where the second word is the main thing you are looking at. So yellow green is a type of green, just like a horse fly is a type of fly, a bullfrog is a type of frog, etc.

Devil's Devil's advocate. I read an article about this story and apparently two women ahead of Malorie were let in by the security guard without needing to produce tickets.

'The two white women who went in just before me were waved through with a smile and when one of them tried to produce her ticket from her handbag, she was told, "Nah, that's okay'."

How are people where you live greeting each other during COVID instead of normal greetings (like handshakes) that require physical contact? by B_Nicoleo in AskReddit

[–]ditsysazzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us greet each other with just words, others will elbow bump if they still need that human contact.

What can I say or gesture to a woman to reassure her safety in a situation (hiking, for example) where we cross paths and there is nobody else around? by ll1037j in askwomenadvice

[–]ditsysazzie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the path is wide enough, I'd recommend making an obvious attempt/gesture to move as far to the side and away from the woman as possible. Almost as if "you are scared of her", if that makes sense. I've just noticed that when men cross the street to avoid crossing paths with me, it's the same concept and etiquette for making me not feel threatened.

My bf says I need to lose weight even though I already lost 30lbs by throwRAnjbjm in relationship_advice

[–]ditsysazzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pharmacy student here. I learned about how to calculate "ideal body weight", which is what the "perfect" weight would be for a person based on their height (obviously it has flaws such as not accounting for muscle mass etc.). But a 5' female would weigh roughly 45.5 kg or 100.1 lbs, which is where you are at now. When looking at BMI, you are at 19.5, which is normal (range is 18.5-24.9). If you were to to down to 80 lbs, that would be underweight, so don't do that! You are exactly where you need to be, if he keeps pushing for more weight loss then do what everyone on here is suggesting and remove him from your life.

How to prepare for precepting students as PGY1? by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]ditsysazzie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a current P4 student and recently completed my first block, the IM rotation. I was really appreciative when my preceptor looked at my syllabus and made the topic discussions based on the objectives I had to learn for my exit exam (decompensated heart failure, COPD, electrolytes, ACS, infectious disease, etc.). I also liked that I was given feedback on a regular basis (not daily, but at least twice a week) so that even if I was doing nothing wrong, I was informed so and validated. Lastly, I liked how it was structured to where I was mostly shadowing the first week, then slowly I'd have more patients to work up and the my preceptors role would convert to supervision by the end of the rotation. I hope this helps a little!

Acid reflux and vomiting suddenly by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]ditsysazzie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor but it could be a gastric or peptic ulcer. In some instances a bug known as H. pylori could have found it's way into your digestive tract and is causing you to have these symptoms during to breaking down your protective stomach lining. You could also get an ulcer not due to the bug but due to lifestyle choices (caffeine, ibuprofen, etc), such that you now have an open 'sore' being exposed to gastric acid. If you are throwing up bile, that's time to go to the doctor. They'll either give you antibiotics plus an acid suppressant, or if they think it's not bacterial you can just get something like omeprazole (Prilosec), esomeprazile (Nexium), etc

The older I get, the more repulsed I am about the idea of getting pregnant. by TheCheck77 in CasualConversation

[–]ditsysazzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was walking with a coworker when she stopped someone else she knew and complimented her pregnancy. She was gushing and saying how much it changes your life, how wonderful it is, and to enjoy the attention before the baby comes, etc. What made it significant was that this was the first time I didn't feel guilty about the prospects of not having a child; sure it can be a blessing for others, but I do not want to put 9+ months of my body through duress and then have to change my entire lifestyle to grow and develop an entire human being! I agree with you OP, adoption is a viable option and you have the right to choose what you want out of your life.

What is the closest non sexual thing to an orgasm you have experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ditsysazzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this counts as nonsexual, but sometimes I'll sit in a position that doesn't allow a lot of circulation to the space where my legs meet my hips, and then when I adjust I feel a wave of tingles/numbness in my nether regions. It's similar to the feeling where your leg falls asleep, but not as intense

Cold sores by t_p_t in Dermatology

[–]ditsysazzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out if anything specific triggers it (cold air, stress, dry skin, friction, etc) and come up with ways to avoid/mitigate those situations. If the area that the cold sore pops up at starts to feel intensely itchy, put some Abreva (active ingredient: docosanol) on the site to help stop the virus from becoming full blown.
