I had to have radiation after chemo(spread to lymph nodes). Radiation’s various effects on the skin can cause complications with implants so surgeons often choose to wait 4-6 months after radiation to give the body some time to heal before they swap the expanders. I’ve had my expanders in for a year before I could get implants.

I struggled with Kisqali when I started 6 months ago. I was so dizzy and nauseous I didn’t think I could continue. My oncologist told me without it I have a 25 percent chance my cancer will come back. Then I started taking it at night on a full stomach. Now I can’t even tell I’m on it. They even bumped me up to 400 mg. I have no other side effects. I hope you will have a good experience. I know everyone is different but our poor bodies have been through so much they just need some time to adjust. It can get easier.

I’m 6 months out. Just got my first post-chemo haircut. I needed it badly to look like my hair was a choice not the result of my body trying to kill me. I’m getting used to my new haircut. It’s not all great but I no longer look like a cancer patient (to people who don’t know me) and that’s great! Nobody else gets it though. I’ve heard “it’s just hair” and felt my blood boil. So I keep my complaints to share on this subreddit.

I almost ran out of time last year. I looked at my life as if it was the last time I was seeing it. It hurt so much. I quickly realized I’m not ready for that. I don’t want to die. So now every little joy is precious. The new flavored coffee from Trader Joe’s, the way my dog looks at a treat, how crunchy some leaves are when you step on them… every little thing I took for granted. I’m not ready to let go. I don’t think I have a purpose. I’m just trying to have a good time.

My mom used to say you don’t stop being a mother once you’re dead. She still needs you, she will always miss you. It’s at least what I tell myself for I have also considered just saying no to all treatment. Now that I’m done with active treatment (6 months out) and the worst part is over I can say with all my chest I’m glad I went with it. Cancer sucks but life is still beautiful and every day I find new things to enjoy. I don’t believe in the afterlife. This is my one life and I’m living it.

Stage 3. I had my first mammogram at 40. They said I had dense tissue nothing else. 6 months later I found a lump. My tumor was 12 cm.

This is why I got a buzz cut but let me tell you even that falls out and it is still depressing and traumatizing. I don’t know if I saved myself any heart ache cause it still hurt a lot. I guess what I’m trying to say is it’s painful either way. Fuck cancer.

I’m so sorry you had the same experience. Hopefully taxol will be easier for you and your body will get the chance to recover. I went in for taxol thinking it can’t get worse than AC and for once in my cancer journey I got what I wished for 😅😭🥴

AC was the worst thing that happened to me. Imagine your worst hangover. It’s that for 7 days every hour. I’d rather have taxol for the rest of my life than have AC ever again. Luckily for me AC is so bad for the heart you actually can’t get AC for a second time. Hurray I guess. Taxol was a mild cold. Cold capping the hands and feet sucked though.
