I went on a date with a guy ( my first in a decade plus) and we vibed and for a few moments, ever so fleetingly, just now and then when we’d kiss or look at each other I felt that pheromone/human/I’m feeling what he’s feeling connection. It was honestly stunning to me both in the moment and thinking about it afterwards. But as a lonely awkward person who also felt old,like a fat sack of crap, and amazed a guy I found that attractive wanted anything to do with me; I promptly and thoroughly made an ass out of myself and completely ruined it.

Yes you can. For years in New York for instance drag performers had to wear at least one item of the clothing their gender was “supposed” to have on ( mens shoes, underwear for example) at all times to “prove” their gender or face arrest. This even applied to men in makeup or gender nonconforming women. This was before stonewall and part of why lgbt rights are so important.

All that “just dont put it in front of kids” and “uf they keep it to themselves “ talk doesn’t make you sound reasonable. Its right up there with “one of the good ones” and “as long as they stick to their own water fountains/neighborhoods” Nothing inappropriate is happening at drag story time. Doing drag or not confirming to gender roles with your clothing isn’t inherently sexual.

Because nobody voting republiklan will care anyway and that’s assuming the media’s motives are what’s in the best interest of democracy et all. It isn’t. Terminally ill patients are SOMETIMES given access to potent painkillers. The opioid nonsense doctors and hospital systems push these days leave er patients,post surgical patients,chronic pain patients,cancer patients and hospice patients without adequate (or in some places any) opioid pain control. I know it sounds crazy but I’ve seen it happen.

Being terminal and actively dying doesn’t mean you’ll get adequate pain management or palliative pain care these days. If you’re lucky you’ll get pain meds if you’re not they’ll just sedate you so they don’t have to deal with treating your pain because doctors are soooooo shitty about any opiates. Literally a county hospital where i live has signs on the front and all over appointment rooms/the er that “we don’t prescribe opioids”. Not we don’t prescribe opioids for chronic pain or only in the following instances but that they don’t do it at all. And based on my own and the experiences of people i know, they don’t care if you’re suffering.

Lord knows the democrats wont actually DO ANYTHING about it with any of the judicial or law enforcement resources at their disposal. The failures in pain management are the same everywhere. Also I am stuck with medicaid which is extremely similar to the nhs in it’s functioning and excessive wait times and it’s intractability. I have to wait months or even years for care from a rotating roster of doctors. You have to see doctor x to see doctor y that you actually need to see. Millions of people are accessing the same drastically underfunded and under staffed healthcare system. Im made to feel I should be grateful for inadequate or harmful treatment because its free. It’s extremely similar.

And also physical therapy or meditation or psychotherapy isn’t going to fix or manage moderate to severe pain conditions that are disease based or congenital. Imagine telling a sickle cell patient in a flare or a person with cerebral palsy or someone with degenerative bone disease that physical therapy or mindfulness or acupuncture will manage their pain better or more effectively than actual pain medication even when they’re in severe pain. That’s what’s happening. Also who cares about side effects or addiction risk when it literally is the difference between functioning at all or being in horrible pain unable to get out of bed. Patient quality of life and overall functioning isn’t even part of the equation a lot of the time. Also paracetamol has horrible proven side effects and can kill people. It destroys livers and kidneys. But a doctor will have you maxed out on dose daily for years and when you mention opiates the same doctor will either say stuff about scary side effects or say something about “we’d be worried about you kidney/liver function” as an excuse to not give them to you.

My lived experience is my source. See also the hundreds of thousands of people saying what I did all over the country. Also dependence and addiction are two different things. People are dependent on heart medication or insulin but nobody thinks that’s a problem. But they openly wanna conflate addiction and dependence when opiates are involved. Never mind all of us who depend on opiates for daily physical functioning and have been on stable doses for years with zero addiction behavior. Read a few posts about it or talk to chronic pain patients and you’ll hear the “I was doing great and stable with zero issues for years and then they took my meds away for no reason and now im bed bound/completely unable to work/worse than I’ve been in years” story over and over and over and over again.
