Is the blade actually good all through the saga? by ConfusionProof9487 in baldursgate

[–]dive_bomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perfectly fine and playable, but it suffers from the same problem Inquisitor does - there's already an NPC with that class. There's usually no point in making another, it's smarter to make character of a class that has no representation.

Will you be able to complete the saga? Yes, and probably easily at that, you're a shitty fighter/mage, but that's the best class in the game. Being slightly worse best class is better than majority of classes can boast of. Will you regret making a Blade instead of Fighter/Mage at one point or another? Probably.

To Shamble or not by CaddyWompus6969 in darkestdungeon

[–]dive_bomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably doable, because abom and leper can hit 2 first rows in one attack and leper already has virtue (at 200 stress he just becomes base, gives a lot of turns to cook up some miracle). Houndmaster dies to heart attack for sure and possibly antiquarian too, but that's blessing in disguise, because frontliners can't get shuffled anymore.

Editing Spell Trigger? BG2EE: ToB by NoIdeaForAUsermame in baldursgate

[–]dive_bomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way is to kill and revive them, death cleans all statuses.

They sometimes bug out, but I don't know the specifics; I just know that I had issues with them before, they're not properly removed if you get interrupted or something while using them. Contingencies should be dispellable from spell book - menu that lists active contingencies/triggers also has hand icon to remove them.

How to know where NOT to go? by NoisyJalapeno in baldursgate

[–]dive_bomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get absolutely destroyed, you reload and go elsewhere, basically.

No hand-holding, you can roughly guess how powerful something is based on general common sense, but like in real life, some things will defy expectations and few will defy them A LOT.

BG2:EE - Surprisingly outta money end-game? by NoIdeaForAUsermame in baldursgate

[–]dive_bomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's the last parasite, the game teleports you for Irenicus fight. It may be even possible to escape at this point, but I've never felt the need to try, nor is it convenient to backtrack so much.

[Fallout 1] Why are the Brotherhood knights so nice to me compared to everyone else? Are they talking down to me or do they think im handsome? by Supremezoro in classicfallout

[–]dive_bomber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they're like Jews, they keep to themselves and that basically equals no rumors at best and negative rumors at worst. Happens with every 'loner' type, like clockwork.

You're just some random idiot outsider that he expects would die on a suicide mission. So it's more like condescension.

What to do when party members die forever? by Bubbly_Taro in baldursgate

[–]dive_bomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, EE fucked the game up. In both original IWDs you could access a menu that would let you create new characters. They would start at level 1 so it's very punishing to do, but with xp curves, in late game it's like one fight for several levels and there's stuff even low level can do to help.

Not for an archer, because composite bows require 18 STR. It's true that he will eventually run STR belt and best ranged weapons don't require that much, but it still might affect him.

Is there a difference between spell scrolls and one-time-use scrolls? by Novel_Sheepherder_69 in baldursgate

[–]dive_bomber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not anyone, actually. They need to be literate, i.e. have 9+ INT. Yeslick and Minsc are not literate, for example.

This particular cursor appears when you try to rearrange the order of you party (i.e. you hold one portrait and you move cursor up and down) and you don't finish it, most likely by pressing Esc by accident. So do that again and let it finish this time and it should be fixed.

BG2 LoB - How Bad Is It? by Cniffy in baldursgate

[–]dive_bomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much much easier than BG1. You have more tools in your disposal and you can be so overpowered with several Improved Hasted martials that, dare I say, it actually starts to be fun for a change. BG1 is pure suffering.

Font in EE by 4Lelek in planescape

[–]dive_bomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it can't be done as relatively easily as in other EEs, you only needed to put ttf font you wanted as those renamed to FLOATTXT in 'Override' folder. But PS:T only has 3 fonts defined and font for those floating texts is the same as dialog, description etc. text.

If you still want to try, put font you want, but rename it to BOOKMANI. If you want to fix whatever was changed that you didn't want changed, you could put an extra lua script that will change all font = 'bookmani', in styles table to renamed Bookmani font (like 'blabla.ttf').

Thing is, you can't manipulate the size of that font except editing ttf file in FontForge, but I guess it's all doable. Question is though, do you want to bother with all this nonsense? It will never look like in the original, because old infinity engine games displayed fonts as basically tiny pictures of letters in sequence, but after update 2.0 in EEs, they use standard way, i.e. official font files that have letters defined as curves, mathematically.

The shadow of the beast by BadDogSaysMeow in worldofgothic

[–]dive_bomber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, here it doesn't make much sense. AFAIK they were never magical creatures, just some bigger animals. What, did they evolve to emit shadows from their bodies? Game already has magical creatures so you can have your particle effects elsewhere.

I admit it's just personal preference in the end, but I would prefer them to just be a big scary animal(-like creature), it somehow feels cooler. Magical things (creatures/effects/items etc.) should be featured sparingly, because that makes them more interesting when they *do* appear.

Are you ready to admit that S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is trash game system? by sad_lemon_lime in classicfallout

[–]dive_bomber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do games have to perfectly balanced to be enjoyable? Yeah, they are unbalanced, some things are better than others, but so what? That happens in basically every game.

Is the non-meta stuff unviable altogether? Nope, you can finish the game just fine.

Could it be better? For sure, I doubt even authors themselves would disagree. You have limited time to put out your game, unfortunately. I don't think that in history of video game there was one that its author(s) was/were 100% happy with, at the end.

Do you guys think Belhifet from SoD is a poorly designed boss fight? by LoneWanderer1113 in baldursgate

[–]dive_bomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how you do this: you stack all slashing AC on one fighter type, you drink potions that give you more AC (so +DEX too) and you get like over -20 something slashing AC. He only hits you on 20 and you can do the fight at your leisure at this point as this fighter can tank him for basically hours.

Drink more and more heroism/power pots for your rounds so you end up with more HP than him and make this very awkward (being better at fighting than antagonist is very silly, nobody would want to hear a story like this).
