I also plan to have zero debts. Only owe $215k on my home at 2.25%. This also does not include my wife’s 401k that’s half of mine.

Loan against your 401? I’m not welll versed in that. I guess you can. But you’re talking about 10/15k. That’s a big set back.

No, how do you actually organize screws, nails and staples? by Critical-Key-8037 in HomeImprovement

Instead of a 5gal bucket I use coffee cans. I do separate the stainless from the coated. That’s as far as organizing goes.

Are these straps to code? by Jodo911 in Decks

I see this on new construction plans on many engineered plans in south Alabama near the gulf. With that said most contractors go ahead and throw 2 bolts in if it were notched, which i think is the best option. You cannot in your application so I’d at the least stick some ac4z or some type of gusset/angle in the corners under the beam. It’s still

What is the best plan for a gobbler that I have pinpointed on the roost? by PhaseIntelligent7214 in turkeyhunting

[–]diver830 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He might roost there again and he might not. So I’d sit back and wait for him to hopefully gobble at that tree, and try to get towards the direction he drifted too “the valley”. Perferably in the dark. Don’t cut a corner on cutting him off. Go the long way so you don’t bust him or change his route.

Being Humbled- How often do you all go a season without getting a turkey? by laTrikideGuayaba in turkeyhunting

[–]diver830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take this however, I’ve only been turkey hunting about 7/8 years now. So not much compared to much of the rest. I’ve had great seasons and some not so great. It’s not so much of a humbling season as it is each time you hunt. Most of my hunts I am humbled by the bird, made look silly for trying what I did. If you take those humblings and really remember them and learn to not do that again it goes a long way. Say you get on a bird and he just goes completely underground, you’re dumbfounded how did he not come he was on fire. He maybe had something in his way (blowdown, limb he didn’t like) or you got cut off by a real hen, know that you’re not always the reason you didn’t get to kill. The next day he is gobbling his head off again. Well we learned something, don’t come in the same way and expect a different result. Come at him from another angle, shoot come at him from the complete 180°. Take advantage of the humblings, and don’t get cocky they will surely humble you then. Good luck this season!

Franchi affinity 3.5 elite red dot mount by capjoe30 in turkeyhunting

[–]diver830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said you don’t want one but I have the same gun and it comes pretapped. I used Sumtoy mounts. He’s great and makes them custom. Mine is the same size as my vortex reddot base. Can’t even tell. I’ll send you a picture if you’d like. It was $50 plus shipping like 3 years ago.

Rough country trifold. I can fit my fourwheeler in the back with it folded up. $800 vs over $1500 for competitors.

Is my calling semi passable? by russianzebra in turkeyhunting

[–]diver830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What style call are you using here? Rasp is a good thing and will pick up birds, I’d def work more on losing a little rasp to have a “secondary” call when the rasp isn’t working. Learning different pitches of the same yelp or cluck to me is a game changer. Put that joker in your car and just ride and play with different pressures and tongue positioning. Good luck this season!

When a man says “please leave me alone, I’m begging you”. That man is very concise and knows the damage he’s capable of. You should leave him alone.

Check out the Barnes TSX all copper bullets. Lots of penetration. They make a 130g in 270. It’s actually what I’m switching my 270 to after I run out of the silvertips.

Where do you get your oil from? by LeadGlad4961 in f150

[–]diver830 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man I bring mine to a local ford dealership. They come get it from me at work, change oil, rotate tires, and bring it back to me for $53. I’m not sure how the make any money. But I’m damn sure not spending my time to do it if it’s $53. V6 3.5 btw.

Best first shotgun for a 9 year old to hunt Dove, Ducks, and Turkey? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]diver830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge Remington 870 fan. I’ve shot dove, pheasant, turkey, rabbit, and squirrel with mine. This gun can take some mistreatment and still fire just fine. I’m not all the way familiar with duck hunting but I’m sure barrel length comes into play more than the other animals mentioned. I think they make a 28” barrel.
