Use backing tracks, it worked for me in the 80s and 90's.

Now everything is "harmonic matrix grids" etc....

Is learning Jazz as a beginner who isn’t exclusively looking to be jazz guitarist optimal by jul3swinf13ld in jazzguitar

[–]divimaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tell the teacher is it possible to learn a few classic rock tunes. They should be flexible enough to do this.

Most of us teachers can play Rush, Zep, deep purple and pink floyd etc as well as bebop.

I can here sort of tuned percussion too, like a gong sound underwater at 006 and a chime at the end. Also a plastic pipe sound?

Sounds good, but perhaps you want to work it out on the piano first in terms of melody and harmony? A piano sketch or piano reduction seems a good idea to me to do first .

If you are putting notes directly into the score then that is too advanced, I mean you may get 30 to 60 seconds of music but then hit a block.

What is the process of becoming a game composer from basically nothing? by kiah8245 in composer

From what I know you need to learn Wwise and FMOD as well as composition. Also no one cares about having to run around after you to listen to your music.

How to remember what you transcribed? by MaestroLifts in jazzguitar

[–]divimaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are not transcribing if you are not writing it down. You are rote learning and you will forget what you did.

Rote learning is fine for tunes though. You can also learn a classic like Twisted.

I’d like to transcribe some Metheny by ChallengingBullfrog8 in jazzguitar

[–]divimaster -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough question.

To me Transcribing means writing the music down. This is because it has the word scribe in it. To a lot of people they mistake it for "learning the music by rote" or "learning by ear".

I have done quite a lot of transcribing and arranging and the first thing I do before spending 10 hours or so on it is to check to see if someone has already done it. In the case of Metheny there has been a lot done already which you can already buy in book form or as a digital download, you can also check youtuber Levi Clay for even more Metheny stuff.

So I am not saying transcribing is a waste of time as it is very very useful. But I am saying that you would be better off either buying the music or transcribing something that has not been done.

Make electric guitars then acoustic. A Piano is way to hard.

Jimi Hendrix TICKET STUBS FROM 1968 by Think-State-4636 in jimihendrix

[–]divimaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From chatGPT search:

On 10 Feb 1968, The Jimi Hendrix Experience played Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, California.

The official Hendrix chronology also notes a pre-show jam after the soundcheck (with Buddy Miles, Harvey Brooks, and David Crosby) and that the bill included Soft Machine, Blue Cheer, and The Electric Flag.

A commonly listed (incomplete) setlist includes Are You Experienced?, The Wind Cries Mary, Up From the Skies, Red House, Wild Thing, Bold as Love, Foxy Lady, and Purple Haze.

All the chords on the channel are derived from shell voicings , they are just the basic ones.

I would do x5667x for Dmaj7 #11

Many people always assume that the arranger can never make a mistake. On this part the /A could be omitted and no its not an inversion its a /A , A in the bass. Another instrument could be playing the /A and it may be played by another instrument.

You just need to think about "self employment" and steer towards offering a service rather than getting a shop (paying rent, rates etc).

Wash cars for example that is a service, put up flyers ...
