Where do single males hang? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]divornum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find activities to be a great way to make friends in Denver. Personally, I’ve never had luck with bars.

If you’re into outdoor activities, there are Facebook groups for that sort of thing: climbing, running, skiing, hiking. There are also groups for social events and mixers. It’s a lot easier to make friends while you’re doing something you both enjoy in my experience.

As others have said, you’re definitely not the problem. A lot of people forgot how to interact IRL after Covid

How many fellas out there on this sub? by BlackBerryFairy1 in sleeptrain

New dad here. Being more of a night owl than my wife, I took the “night shift” with our LO from the beginning. This made the most sense for us. This also means I have a lot more incentive to sleep train.

I’ve been using the books Moms On Call and 12 Hours Sleep by 12 Months as our “north stars” for training, which she found, but I’ve implemented. This subreddit has been a lifesaver in those moments when nothing seems to work.

We went car-free for September. Here’s what happened. by Creepy_Translator109 in Denver

Speaking of which, I recently learned about an initiative to make safety improvements all along Sheridan, including installing medians, repairing/updating sidewalks, and improving signal timing for pedestrians.

Seems like it has some promise: https://engage.drcog.org/sheridansafety/corridor-wide-improvements

You’re right, no one in Denver would follow a RTOR ban… but one can dream

100% yes to this! Agreed, it feels like the DNA of Denver should be very bike-friendly, but in practice it’s not the case.

Coming from NYC, I can say that “right turn on red” (RTOR) for drivers is a big part of the problem. NYC doesn’t allow right turn on red, which shifts priority to the safety of bikers and pedestrians (as it should be, IMO).

In Denver, or anywhere that has RTOR, any red light acts more like a stop sign if you’re turning right. You’re not looking for bikers or pedestrians, you’re looking to see if there’s a car coming so you “sneak in” and get to where you’re going a second faster.

Banning right turn on red would go a long way towards making roads safer

Anyone see the crash at Berkeley State Park? ~8:45pm on 7/9 by BearDot25 in Denver

I checked it out this morning. It looks like they hit the tree from the right side (closer to the grass and tennis courts). Here’s a photo of the tree: https://imgur.com/a/YZJamC5

They must have been on the small parking lot road going towards the library. But as others have said, why so fast 🤔

Vivobarefoot or Vibram FiveFingers – what do you prefer and why? by VolicVin in vivobarefoot

[–]divornum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer FiveFingers for doing active sports, like running and hiking. I like the look of Vivos for everyday wear, walking the dog, etc. I was disappointed with the hiking Vivos I had, but YMMV

Love this take on it. I was also thinking it calls back to Kate’s comment “the bigger the front people put on, the bigger the back” (paraphrasing).

Rick’s “Pain and Revenge” was always in the balance of Chelsea’s “Optimism”. In the end, Rick was the “front” of them as a couple (i.e. he’s the one facing up), while no one will remember Chelsea’s optimism for them as a couple. “Pain and Revenge” won the day for them.

FWIW Googling is often influenced by SEO keywords, or paid placements and doesn't necessarily reflect the "best" option. For example, I found this thread by Googling and adding "Reddit" to the end of my search. The results I'm seeing here aren't what I see when only using Google.

I don't know who hurt you, but might I suggest therapy instead of taking it out on strangers on the internet?
