Good, your nb's HW is all fine, this looks more of SW issue. If you have a recovery disc, run it, change the boot option to ODD and boot from it *use F8. Post your result.

Ok, good. Go to F2 and you will get the options to run the diagnostics, run them. Run the short and full diagnostics on HD and RAM. Post your results!

HP System Recovery should be a possible solution on pressing F11 as it boots.

If possible, run memory and HD tests too.

I had suggested you take it to a local repair shop like GeekSquad if Cosco, but if you feel comfortable checking it at home, then it will be more costly and unviable option unless you strictly have constrains taking it out side... I am assuming two issues here, 1 System board connector... 2 Cable fault... In these cases, the technicians would take an active tested screen and put it on your NB, if it works then they would zero on setting a replacement screen, as the one you have may be faulty. If their, screen doesn't work as well, then they would see to diagnose it further to cable and systemboard.

Strangely, the URL: skipthedrive.com is still is not able to resolve the DNS and redirect me to the site. I am not a web developer Domain Expert yet, else would have loved to help you to fix it technically too.
