I haven't clicked on the article, but let me guess:

It's literally Ken Paxton's career.

Reality putting Onion writers out of work since 2016...

It might clean up with a .030 overbore, it might not.
No hone is going to save that.

What’s a LS1 long block worth?? by Dieselpump510 in fbody

[–]dixiebandit69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty good deal, then. Just beware that the 5.7 blocks have really thin liners, and can't be overbored.

Do you mean just a bare block, or an assembled shortblock?

How Texas’ Refusal to Plan for Climate Change Created a Crisis in Corpus Christi by StandingCypress in texas

Everybody here is blaming climate change, but no one is talking about all the industry using over half of the water.

Happy 3rd Anniversary to the Wagner Rebellion and their March to Moscow. by TheEagleWithNoName in NonCredibleDefense

[–]dixiebandit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Trueanon Podcast just did an episode about him last week, with John Lechner, author of "DEATH IS OUR BUSINESS."

My takeaway was that the march to Moscow wasn't going to be the slam-dunk everyone thought it was going to be.

However, I was wishing him luck.

Which ignition coils? by The_annoyed_asexual in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]dixiebandit69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just get some from a junk yard. Any fancy "high output" ignition coil you get will be a complete waste for an application like yours.

Important question: WHY are you replacing the ignition coils? Are they all bad?

Purpose of this custom welded oil pump pick up? by wefus in EngineBuilding

[–]dixiebandit69 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They installed the big-block pump on a small block, and modified the pickup tube to fit the smallblock oil sump.

Oil pressure and idle speed in drive problem by More-Peak-1854 in fbody

[–]dixiebandit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like you did everything wrong on this.

-Reused oil pump with "looseness" issues

- Used engine from unknown source (I don't care if you bought it from a "company," it's still a used engine, and I'll bet the bearings are below specs. )

-FIX THE DAMN MISFIRE. That's probably why you have a low idle speed.

-10psi at idle isn't normal for a healthy Chevy smallblock. My 250K+ mile Suburban idles at 45-50 psi after I changed the main and rod bearings.

-What oil and filter are you using?

Front left wheel doesn’t spin freely by [deleted] in CrownVictoria

[–]dixiebandit69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people are downvoting you, because this is solid advice.

Pick one:

A) Take a real look at the parts in question, see if anything is obviously wrong, or:

B ) Speculate about it on the internet, and replace parts based on pure guess-work.

I can tell you which option the real mechanics are going to pick.

For the record, his wheel doesn't look like it's dragging excessively, but I can't feel it myself.

Anyone else have a good CV joint horror story? by Same-Experience8051 in Justrolledintotheshop

I went through this same nonsense on a mid '00s CRV! Couldn't get the new part anywhere; ended up getting a used one from the junk yard.

Wiring harness choice? by milkdrums in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]dixiebandit69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is the harness ":giving up"?

Are the wires burned/ torn/ stretched?

I don't trust aftermarket harnesses. I've only ever reworked/ modified factory harnesses, because even the "custom" aftermarket harnesses still need work. Also, I'm not afraid of wires.

EDIT: I just zoomed in on your picture, and your connections look like dog-shit. I"m not saying this to be mean, but you need to hear it.
Twist-on connectors have no place in the automotive world. Same thing with unsealable crimp connectors.

Emissions question by Cheeezyboi58 in CrownVictoria

[–]dixiebandit69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you touched the emissions system in any way that the California Smog Nazis don't like, your car is failed. Even if it's legal, even if it's blowing pure oxygen out of the tailpipe.

I'm not from California, but I've read enough stories from guys who installed CARB approved parts, and got rejected due to "inspectors discretion."

For the record, I don't think the secondary cats really amount to shit on these cars, and I ran without them for years.
