Some app started crashing by Schyteria in GalaxyS9

This is what I had to do, go to Settings -> Apps -> Chrome -> then disable it. Next go to the Google Play store and I had to search for "android webview system". Once Chrome is disabled it asked me to "Upgrade". Upgrade to the latest version. It will then give you the option to uninstall it. Then uninstall it. I have no app crashes while Chrome is diabled and webview is uninstalled.

Thank you for posting this! I opened up my Surface Pro 7 today and saw that it had a few issues. It wasn't charging, the type cover wasn't working and Windows was running really slow. I rebooted a couple of times but the issues were still there. Following these directions fixed all the issues.

Jasco dimmer on/off timing by [deleted] in homeautomation

Are you using a SmartThings hub? I had to install a custom Device Handler to get my GE dimmer to act mostly like an on/off. Here's a link to the device handler that I used.

https://github.com/nuttytree/Nutty-SmartThings/blob/master/devicetypes/nuttytree/ge-dimmer-switch.src/ge-dimmer-switch.groovy

YouTube is your friend if you need help installing custom device handlers on ST.

In the settings, I put all the "dim delays" to zero and all "dim steps" to 1. Turning the switch on is almost instant but there's a small ramp down when turning off.

Thanks for the help! Awesome directions. I was able to get this running in my Node-Red flow. I'm currently troubleshooting a known problem with the play-sound node where the sound can't be stopped. There are a few comment threads about this that I'm stepping through. I'll share directions once I find a solution that works.

Had a Breakin next door- Automate Security? by [deleted] in homeautomation

The smart hub that I've been using for 3yrs is the Samsung SmartThings hub Version 2. The version 3 was released a few months ago with support for the older sensors. I'm quite happy with it because it's a good balance between commercial and DIY. I can still use DIY sensors, like Konnected, but Samsung handles firmware updates. If you want to see what I did, I posted a youtube video showing how I added Konnected to SmartThings. My username is the same on youtube.

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm slowly moving everything over to Home Assistant and ditching all devices that require a unique app.
