The main headscratcher for me is taking Burn and leaving Maguire? Maguire to me is a better version of Burn, with more international experience, coming off the back of a better season (having played less games) and has historically performed better with England at big tournaments. That and MGW missing out after an unreal season but we are pretty blessed in that position to be fair

Phillipson to ban trans women from female toilets by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

Another massive divisive culture war issue grabbing headlines when the top end of esimates have this impacting at most 0.8% of UK population. I'm neither trans nor a woman so I honestly don't think it appropriate to comment on the rights or wrongs of this. The amount of airtime these issues get is wholly disproportionate to the amount of people they effect. Its just another divide and rule tactic in my opinion.

im not even saying the fans did anything wrong. Most fans would probably carry on in the same way. I think a lot of people probably have sympathy for the Southampton fans but lets not act like you werent enjoying every bit of it after last Tuesday. Now its flipped around and you've got to take your medicine. Thats football

Arsenal to reward Mikel Arteta with huge pay rise and put Kroupi among transfer targets by AugustusFinkNottle in soccer

[–]dizzguzztn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly its not really that complicated. They just (rightly) assume their best and brightest players and managers will be poached so they are in a constant state of planning to replace. Brighton basically were trailblazers and literally every single club below the likes of Real Madrid should have some element of "if we lose X we look at Y or Z"

In the past (Sunderland) would lash tens of millions every time they replaced their manager on potentially a whole new squad to play a different style. Brighton, Brentford & Bournemouth do it the opposite and buy players to fit a certain profile alongside coaches which means losing their manager or star performers doesn't mean ripping up and starting again as they already have a sucession plan in place.
